X1 Official BMW X1 Thread

The BMW X1 is a line of cars produced by BMW since 2009. A subcompact luxury crossover class, the first-generation X1 was based on the E90 3 Series and offered rear-wheel drive layout as standard. The second-generation X1 marked the switch to a front-wheel-drive-based layout using the UKL2 platform shared with the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the Mini Countryman. Despite its name, it is now only the second smallest SUV produced by BMW since the introduction of the X2.

This looks really good in this shot. Very premium. So un-softroader-like.

You know,If BMWSA can price it right, then Im sold, or should I say we are sold.. Be linient on us bmwsa.. please dont let us pay an arm an a leg for this..:eusa_pray:eusa_pray

I must admit....GREAT! Looks premium and proporionally a whole lot better in the official pics! Nicely done BMW!!! :eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap 4/5

And yes! Now it is all up to the price....:t-hands:

I agree ghusheshe. This is so much better than the CashCow (a brilliant product in its own right) but it's going to be very expensive here. I've slowly converted my wife to the joys of owning a powerful, safe, sure-footed SUV. Once they go they don't come back though, so here's a word of warning - don't expect to be driving that X1 too often! ;)

As for the car - barring the hideous colour - I just love this profile. Nobody does cab-backward like BMW does and on a mini-SUV it's a particularly fetching silhouette.

I must say, I'd ace one of these (in this package) in that new metallic grey with saddle brown interior.

Where's that crazy agriculturalist, Human?
Hey Martin! See I will have mine in white with black leather seats...and also aluminium trim.

Surely the CashCow as well as the Tiguan have got trouble now! This X1 looks premium and proportionally much better in the official pics. The cab-forward design and the sporty rear coupled with the signature long hood - typical of BMW, makes this a BMW!
The pricing in the RSA would determine the success of the X1 here....

PS: LOVE those Y-Spoke rims ala X5/X6 !!!

No probs - I'll place your order for you! (Black interior is so boring these days) ;)

I know you mean cab-backward! ;) Cab-forward is Honda Civic sedan, CR-V...

We'll let this thread settle in the New BMW Models section for a while. Once the car is properly on the market with pricing then we can create its own section for it. Ok? :usa7uh:

Mods, can we have a new section for this thread? remove this from the New Models sections and create a new X1 SAV section.. thanks:usa7uh:

Martin, i don't think we need to wait for pricing or start of sales, this is officially new BMW model and should have it's own section. We did like that so far. Mark is the one to create all new section, we cannot do that. :usa7uh:

But, as you guys wish, it's fine with me.

:t-cheers:

Interior is good and the profile is attractive. My biggest feud is with the barbaric front end which features over-sized kidneys and cross-eyed-like head lights. Neither is the front bumper graceful. The X5 and X6 have much more balanced appearances.

Don't forget 20d & 18d will also be available in sDrive (RWD) version, while 23d & 28i will be xDrive (AWD) exclusively.

:t-cheers:

So, this baby (18d & 20d) can also be used as "1er Touring" ... RWD. A bit less understeer than AWD version, yet less traction of course.

5 diesel models, and only 1 with petrol engine show this car is aiming at Euro customers mainly.

And 28i indicates NA market ambitions. ;)

Much better looking than the concept, not sure why though. Interior lay out is great. I love that BMW seems to be going back to driver oriented interiors after all the space opyomizing designs of the last generation.

Yeah…!! Looks fabulous to me! Love it! There is no need for a X3 anymore!
If the pricing is keen the X3 my have lost a few customers, but if the not the X1 would not be a sales success....BMW has to have their pricing finely balanced......

What??? NO!!! We have never done that. The X1 is official now and really wants it's own section. I am going to PM the Admin and kindly ask.

It workes very well in white! The brown is, well.. brown.

The bright colour is definitely better, it makes the face look smaller. I really like the final design, even if we already knew what it was going to look like, it is good to have a look at the final product.

The interior looks ace!

I believe this X1 creates even more reason for the next generation X3. We have to appreciate that this is a compact (read small), low sports activity (I can barely bring myself to say that stupid word) vehicle. It's a proper crossover - bridging the gap between all-out SUV and touring wagon.

The X3 is growing half a size. It will be competing head on with the Q5 and GLK and will, in all likelihood, surpass them in overall size. This is an expected move of model proliferation in the highly lucrative and now, well established, SUV segment.

BMW are also being very clear as to the dirt-road-only ambitions of the X1 - they're not suggesting that it's a pukka off-roader but more of a "get out and experience" lifestyle vehicle. And, this is all that most adventurous urbanites who use their vehicles on a daily basis will need.

I anticipate that BMW might just throw a bit more off-road ability at the next X3 in order to keep it class competitive.
