X5 [Official] BMW X5 (G05)

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.
Big improvement over the current X5,but still lacking of excitement and freshness ,the biggest star is the upcoming Lincoln Aviator in this segment.

RIP F15

I think it looks really good. Tail lights are very Audi-ish to my eyes, but they're not unattractive. Front is subtly different to X3, but I'm fine with that, it looks good. Side creases and character lines work well. It's certainly better looking than either the 5-er or 6GT IMHO, for once, an SAV might be my choice in the price range!

It's a massive improvement over the old one, and I don't even mind the perineum between the kidneys.

I hate SUV/SAV's in white though.. they look like chest freezers.

The front looks really great, and much better proportioned than the X3. The character line still looks tacky and unnecessary to me, but it doesn't look as bad as i thought it will based on the spy pics.

The KIA rear just destroys it at the end. I dunno what they thought designing it, it doesn't even flow with the rest of the car. The rearlight graphics look so dated, reminds me on the older Ford Fusion or the S-Max.

^ This!

I'm also not a fan of Ford-like tail lights graphics. BMWDesign went from being a leader to being a follower. Sad!

Also, where is the promised (by AVH) "We will make the styling simpler ... with less lines ... and with cleaner surfaces ... " ??? It looks like it only applies to 8er, Z4, X7 to certain extent.

THE X5: behold Bayerische Motoren Werke..fitted with our ultra luxurious plastic steering wheel and shift pedals.

I really like the car, and specially the interior is a massive upgrade in terms of how it looks for me. But I thought all that luxury “sub-brand” pr meant something. But obviously just BS.

Even the A-class steering wheel looks and is better finished. I mean..that’s the only thing you’re always touching on a car man.

If you’re using the same steering on all cars, which is common practice now, at least make a decent one.

Surprise surprise I actually like this one, first in a long while, I'd also like the X2 if they called it what is really is a 2 series hatch, it ain't no SUV. Anyway back to the X5, I'm happy they kept the split folding tailgate, it's still not as good looking as the XC90 (what SUV is), too many fussy details especially around the rear wheel arches, and I don't think it's cabin is as usable from the photos seen so far, but a good effort nonetheless.

I believe the Bayerische Motoren Werke marketing materials relate to 7, 8, X7, and i8... not the mid classes or lower.

You really shouldn't conflate how something looks with how it feels.

I’ve seen Scott refer to the G05 as a bayerische product. Even then, the 8 has the same steering wheel anyway.

The MB steering wheel looks better to me, as for it being better finished, I guess that’s not really just personal opinion.

Plastic pedals on a car like this its laughable anyway. Which is a shame, because the rest of the car seems to have really high quality materials.

I'm happy to overlook the passive design of the tail light. Overall it's a harmonious looking car and there is not much else I could ask from an X5. While the kidney grilles are big, they look more at home in the X5 than the X3 and the greater use of straight lines on the front will make it easy to tell them apart - not to mention the greater bulk on the X5.

The difference in the interior is night and day. We are not talking F11 to G30 which is more of a reskin of the same button layout. I welcome this new interior design language. What a difference!

I'm keen to learn more about the bespoke xDrive system. 18 inch allows will be an option this time which shows how serious BMW are taking offloading. The smallest alloy size available on the F15 is 19.

The new X5 kind of remains me of F70, revolutionary but well execution.

The car feels very modern and relevant, interior is a big step forward showing how now BMW can finally translate their concept designs into reality.

Now with this new X5’s exterior and interior designs we can finally see the new direction BMW is taking a lot clearer.

Damn, I neither see KIA nor Audi styling elements in this new taillight design. Am I the only one??? @klier where are u???

The leaked press pics that were probably taken in the desert look sooo good o m g

Dashboard looks good and modern in a positive sense. Like the way the naviscreen is more integrated in the overall design. Compared to the former X5 differences are immense.

Even though there is no cheap ‚plastic’ there ... what’s supposed to be there instead? A shelf unit dash that feels 3 ft high? And who does it better, in your opinion?
Lexus? Cadillac?

Well, it could have been better integrated under a continuous glass screen (as in the 7, 5, X3 etc.). In the new X5, it looks discontinued (there is a level between the bezel and the actual digital display) and this accentuates the width of the bezel and visually minimizes the display.

Yes Eni confirmed trademarks for THE X5. And THE X6.
And someone seems to think 4er will now be THE 4.
