Aventador [2011-2022] [Official] Lamborghini Aventador S

The Lamborghini Aventador is a mid-engine, two passenger sports car manufactured from 2011 until 2022. Named after a prominent Spanish fighting bull that fought in Zaragoza, Aragón, in 1993, the Aventador succeeded the Murciélago and was manufactured in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy.

Interesting that it has more PS than the SVJ...

On one hand, that's nice... But on the other, Lamborghini have really made a mess with the Aventador model range. You first announce the SV - what was previously the ultimate incarnation of the model - but then a few years later you announce the SVJ, making the SV pointless. Then you make one billion SVJs so they are not really that rare or special. And then you announce a facelift that makes more power than the ultimate-ultimate model. :cautious:

The Murcielago SV is how it's supposed to be done. One special model, clearly on top of the range with low production numbers. That's how you build the aura of mystique and desirability around your models.

Money talks...

Indeed, but it's trading the long term brand perception and strength - that will guide the sales and prices for decades to come - for a short term money boost. The same thing as with the million one-offs and special editions which are all just re-bodied Aventadors for $2M+.

Ultimae means one of the last ones, as in plural. Probably referring to that this will be one the last purely N/A V12 engines ever produced.

One of the most boring models of the 2010s…. How long can they keep facelifitng it, and making variants? At least they could go the Ferrari way, as they did with the 458, 488, F8 - all serious facelifts, but very noticeable ones. Here we see the same front and the same rear for a decade now, not exciting anymore….

Car and Driver - 769-HP Lamborghini Aventador LP780-4 Ultimae Is a Farewell from a Classic

Looks like this is not actually a "face-lift" as earlier reported, but another limited edition - 350 coupes and 250 roadsters. Not sure if there is much of a distinction, because 600 cars is probably all they can sell in the next two years anyway, but I guess it means the Aventador S will continue being sold.

Technically there is absolutely nothing interesting. The dry weight is 1550kg, so right between the 1525kg of SVJ and 1575kg of the S. The interior has no "Evo" upgrade and is basically identical to past Aventadors.

The price hasn't yet been announced, but it's probably gonna be similar to the SVJ, so €500k with options. The only reason I can see why anyone would want to spend that kind of money is to get one of the last NA V12s, but even then, this is barely any different to the S, the SVJ, or even the original LP700. That said, Lamborghini actually managed to sell 846 Aventadors in 2020, so people apparently still like this car - no matter how technically obsolete it might seem.

Stealthy and timeless. Love it! Perfect specimen to sit in a collectors garage or to be driven by anyone who dislike bodykit on the SVJ.

If anything, Aventador is the defining supercar of the 2010s. Not the best to drive, but definitely the most memorable and iconic.

the SV's and limited models are the engine teasers of future updates/later models:
Veneno - SV (750hp)
Centenario - SVJ (770hp)
Sian - future model? (820hp)
Essenza - future model? (840hp)

looking at wikipedia they've shifted close to 10,000 Aventadors since it entered production which is only a hairwidth away from how many Huracans they've produced thus far with aventador shifting roughly 1000 a year and Huracan at 2500+ per year except for 2 years

the Aventador is getting close the 14,000 that the Gallardo sold, but it'll most likely stop before that

At any car meet that I have attended, no car trumps the Aventador at being a crowd magnet or getting people to whip our their phones to take a photo - not even the more expensive La Ferrari.

The Aventador is THE gladiator. A thoroughbred crowd pleaser.

The replacement for the Aventador will have a hybrid + naturally aspirated V12 powertrain.

In real life seeing the Aventador is always an EVENT. That amazing soulful and thrilling sounding V12 and stealthy drop-dead gorgeous body, it definitely is a babe magnet and probably is one of the most photographed cars on many people's selfie shots. It is a legend in the making and will be sought after like the Countach in future.

Or sleek and sexy like the Ultimae

The perfect compromise would be a SVJ Roadster for drama and the new Ultimae Coupe for slightly less drama.

Yeah, totally agree, my only problem is that while they make pretty nice and new looking limited series cars, they kept the same design for the Aventador for a decade. They didn’t even change it much with the facelift, this is my only problem. It’s 2021, it could look much better than it did in 2011…
