Huracán [2014-2024] [Official] Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4

The Lamborghini Huracán is a sports car manufactured by Italian automotive manufacturer Lamborghini replacing the previous V10 offering, the Gallardo. The Huracán was revealed online in December 2013, making its worldwide debut at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show and was released in the market in the second quarter of 2014.
Lamborghini Huracan gets taxi license in the UK, but you won't like the price

Taxi rides are never worth mentioning, at least not thanks to the vehicle that temporarily caters to your transportation needs. However, a British company has set out to change this and it's using a Lamborghini Huracan in the process.

The Wolverhampton City Council has recently granted a taxi license to Special Wedding Cars - don't be afraid of the name, you don't have to get married in order to enjoy their V10 Raging Bull, with the supercar set to be used as a cab.

For one thing, this solves the problem that sometimes accompanies the initial part of your ride, namely spotting your taxi - given the acid shade of Green covering this Lambo, the sharpness of human eyesight will be the only limiting factor here - this might just be Sant'Agata Bolognese's Verde Mantis, but we can't be entirely sure.

However, since the Huracan, with its naturally-aspirated engine and its pop-addicted exhaust, is one of the loudest supercars on the market, you'll also have early alerts before your cab arrives. Just make sure to keep in mind that two-passenger rides are probably not okay, so if you were planning to take your SO along for a ride, you'd better look for a supercar hire service.

The Lambo will be used for all sorts of events, from the wedding adventures mentioned in the company's name to prom rides. And the Brits are being honest about the costs on the company's Facebook page: "Lamborghini Taxi !!! Yes that was ours Lamborghini yesterday ! Not a normal taxi price at £349 [make that $500 or EUR at the current exchange rates] for 1.5 hours but then again not quite a normal taxi at £198,000.00,"

Since on certain occasions you have to get to your destination ASAP, this Italian exotic taxi might actually make sense. Wonder what the British law enforcement thinks about it, though...

GPS brings me though a undesirable part of Brooklyn to avoid traffic and I spot a seemingly unkempt Huracán parked outside a flat:

NYC has become like some parts of South Africa in regards to cars - people's priorities have become very skewed.

How is that even possible, looks like the car is stuck on the pavement?

Didn't get a chance to look closely, but it appears to be a decline driveway. Nevertheless, the Huracan appeared to sitting on the ground.

@Yaz I'm seeing more exotics where I least expect to nowadays - I often find myself perplexed.

2018 Lamborghini Huracan Superleggera: Lambo's Supercar Strips Down

Can't go wrong with more power and less weight.

Future Cars
What It Is: A lightweight version of Lamborghini’s Huracán supercar—hence the name, superleggera (meaning “super light”). This prototype’s aggressive front splitter and large, fixed rear wing promise an aggressive, track-focused aerodynamic package. It also should boast upgraded wheels and tires and brake components to complement a stiffer suspension tune. What it won’t have is the standard Huracán LP610-4’s all-wheel-drive system, as the simpler and slightly lighter rear-drive LP580-2, introduced last year, will surely be the basis for the new Huracán Superleggera.

Why It Matters: Stripping the Huracán LP610-4’s all-wheel-drive hardware to create the rear-wheel-drive LP580-2 only lightened the Huracán by a claimed 73 pounds. To pare it down to fighting weight, a more extreme diet is required. The Huracán Superleggera likely will use plenty of carbon fiber—possibly of Lamborghini’s own forged variety—and a significantly stripped-out interior without the luxurious appointments used in the standard Huracán.

Platform: The Superleggera will use the same mid-engine chassis as the standard rear-drive Huracán LP580-2, but with reduced mass thanks to the carbon fiber in the body and a shorter equipment list. With its focus on high performance over cruising in style, the Superleggera isn’t expected to spawn a Spyder variant. A short list of both standard and optional equipment will also trim weight to a minimum.

Powertrain: The 5.2-liter V-10 was detuned to 573 horsepower for its application inthe rear-drive LP580-2, but expect Lamborghini to go in the opposite direction with the Superleggera model. More muscle than the standard, all-wheel-drive Huracán’s 602 horsepower should be on the menu, with the standard seven-speed dual-clutch automatic remaining the only transmission choice. (We haven’t seen a stick-shift Lambo for years now.)

Competition: Ferrari 488GTB, Ford GT, McLaren 675LT, Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

Estimated Arrival and Price: Watch for the Superleggera to arrive sometime in 2017—with an MSRP reflecting a significant premium over the standard Huracán LP610-4’s starting price of $242,445. We suspect $300,000 isn’t out of the question, which would fill some of the wide-open price territory between the Huracán and the $400,000-plus Aventador.

Superleggera rumor mill:
Interesting rumor I heard when I picked up my R8 at my Audi dealer (who also sells Lamborghini): Apparently, there has been a new Nordschleife record, achieved by a Lamborghini Huracan Superleggera mule but with production power and production chassis setup. Tires were also the Pirelli tires the Superleggera will be delivered with. This hasn't been made public (yet?) because VW Group put a lid on this information. This rumor has circled for a couple of weeks but apparently there was a Lamborghini engineer who confirmed it. Record time was a fractions of a second better...

I know, I know...just a rumor but if true, the new Superleggera should be an interesting product. The Audi version will very likely be named R8 GT.

Rumored power 640 hp (other sources indicate 630), rumored weight 85-100 kg less than current Huracan.

Lamborghini has recently been very active in GT racing whether Blancpain or other series and I am sure they are harvesting some of the fruit from these efforts. A race engineer I know has said that from day 1 they worked on the car they were very impressed with everything from the quality to the layout. He is also working on Audi, Ferrari and McLaren GT3 cars. Good to see a brand who has less history in racing step up, and deliver to the clients.
