Huracán [2014-2024] [Official] Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4


The Lamborghini Huracán is a sports car manufactured by Italian automotive manufacturer Lamborghini replacing the previous V10 offering, the Gallardo. The Huracán was revealed online in December 2013, making its worldwide debut at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show and was released in the market in the second quarter of 2014.
As a super basic concept, you can think of it as making the inner side heavier and the outer lighter so you counteract the physical forces.

That's the way I saw it. Countering weight transfer.
I saw it as them taking in the air and pushing it out of the side they wanted to rotate the quickest, while putting the weight on the side that needed weight to stabalalize the rotation. like a pencil compass.

Has the 488 done numbers similar to this?

There's that aspect too yes, equalising weight transfer and allowing easier rotation.

Quarters are a funny thing. The fastest stock 12C is 10.271 at 135.55mph. All about getting the right conditions.

Those cars trap 5-8 mph more tho. In the hands of DragTimes a 675 would probably be a 140 mph car.

At those speeds it's difficult to overcome a cylinder and HP disadvantage. Speaking of the Aventador, silver and metallic light blue show off its lines very well.

Motorsport test mule - or new 'Extreme' track car?

Spotted by friend of DSC Fausto Mattei testing at Monza this morning, this extraordinary looking Lamborghini Huraçan is not one we have seen before.

The car comes replete with roof top air scoop and ‘shark’ fin as well as a prominent front air intake (on the bonnet panel) and additional aero elements rear of the doors on the sills and atop the rear wheel arches.

Indeed the bodywork both front and rear is entirely different both from the current Super Trofeo and GT3 versions of the car. It is running on Pirelli rubber and, we believe, may be being driven by Fabio Babini.

The key to the identity of the car seems to be the rear wing. It is neither a GT3, nor a GTE/ GTLM compliant rear wing. The car then could be either a test mule or, more likely, an extreme track car in the vein of the Ferrari FXX, the Aston Martin Vulcan and the McLaren P1 GTR. Odd then perhaps that the car is based on the Huraçan rather than the Aventador, though the availability of contemporary motorsport parts for the V10 engined machine may well be a deciding factor here.

One suggestion emerging is the this car is a mule for a potential ‘upper’ class for the Lamborghini user Trofeo in a future season, the car apparently aping some aspects of the styling refresh due for the Huracan in the near future.

Looks like it is an updated Super Trofeo racecar. Funny thing is they have found a use for that Veneno roof scoop on the roof there. :D

Okay, it seems that some of the fchat guys claim that this is for Staphan Ratel's GT1 races.

Lamborghini’s first hybrid sports car will use next-generation solid-state technology

The Lamborghini Huracán’s successor, due in 2022, will use a radical hybrid powertrain, featuring “next-generation” battery technology to minimise weight and give it the ability to run in electric-only mode.

The Italian supercar maker, which is well known for its reluctance to move away from naturally aspirated engines, has already confirmed a hybrid powertrain will be launched in its new SUV, the Urus.

The latter will be revealed in December, but no technical details or performance figures have been released yet.

The next Aventador, due before the second-generation Huracán, will retain its naturally aspirated V12 engine, so the Huracán’s successor will be the first Lamborghini sports car to be an advanced plug-in hybrid. Talking to Autocar, Lamborghini boss Stefano Domenicali said: “The [next] Huracán – that car will need hybridisation. Hybridisation is the answer, not [full] electric.”

Referring to its current engines, Domenicali said: “There is still a lot of potential for the V12. The right approach for us is to have the V10 and V12 to suit our customers and then be ready to switch [to a hybrid] at the right moment.”

Commercial boss Federico Foschini told Autocar earlier this year that there is currently little demand for hybridisation from its customers. “When they come to Lamborghini, they are asking for the power and performance of our naturally aspirated engines,” he said. “That’s why we have already decided that the next-generation V12 will stay naturally aspirated and it is one reason why the [Aventador] remains unique.”

Although these engines remain in the mid-term plan, Lamborghini is already heavily investing in the research and development of future powertrain technology for 2022 and beyond.

Last year, it announced a partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on a project that “intends to write an important page in the future of super-sports cars for the third millennium”. That project is likely to focus on lightweight composite materials, as well as alternative energy and battery storage techniques.

Research and development boss Maurizio Reggiani told Autocar last month that the key issues currently preventing the brand from integrating hybrid technology were focused around driving range, but he hoped to have a solution for a super-sports car within “four to five years”.

He said: “The issue today is the storage of energy. If I go to a track, I need to run all the laps that I want. But today, the problem is that if you go, you are only able to run one and a half laps [flat out].”

Reggiani said plug-in electric technology is still not effective enough for use in a supercar that can be driven at pace for long periods of time.“Imagine if you went to the Nordschleife with a hybrid. It will be faster on the 0-100km/h time [than non-hybrid cars] but it will not be faster over a lap – or at least won’t be able to do more laps,” he said.

Porsche, a Volkswagen Group stablemate of Lamborghini, has been investigating the use of lighter solid-state batteries for its future performance cars and Reggiani said this is something Lamborghini is considering. However, he believes the very different character of Lamborghini supercars means integrating tech from a sister brand won’t be as simple as it has been with the Urus.

“It’s easier in our first plug-in hybrid, the Urus, because the ambition of the car in terms of packaging and weight is not so difficult,” he said. “But this is one mission. It’s not the Lamborghini super-sports car mission.”

Reggiani said Lamborghini is working with multiple industry experts, including MIT, to investigate what type of battery system can offer the best answer to the hybrid challenge.

“We have different partnerships with the most important researchers in the world because we need to scout [for future ideas],” he said. “I think the new frontier of the super-sports car will move more and more tothe hybridisation, although there are still some questions relating to the weight and the packaging of the batteries.”

Flush with Audi technology and betting the Urus will double company sales, Lamborghini is willing to radicalize the Huracán beyond a typical supercar refresh.

When an updated Huracán arrives in late 2018 or early 2019, it could adapt rear-wheel steering from the Aventador S and a 48-volt electrical subsystem similar to those in the Audi SQ7 and Bentley Bentayga. As we’ve experienced, Lamborghini’s rear-wheel steering shrinks the Aventador’s impossibly wide, truckish footprint to that of a lighter, smaller sports car, so imagine what it could do for the lighter, smaller Huracán. According to a senior Lamborghini engineer, the issue of cost—even in a Lamborghini—has executives wavering since the Huracán is supposed to be the “entry level” supercar.

As for the higher voltage, next-generation Lamborghini models will employ a 48-volt subsystem that runs concurrently with the primary 12-volt system. Since the Urus will share much of its hardware with Bentley, it’s likely that the 200-mph SUV will feature adaptive anti-roll bars that twist by means of high-powered electric motors. The Huracán may introduce this feature—or others powered by the 48-volt subsystem, such as Audi’s electric rotary dampers—before it is replaced, although the complexity of adding a secondary battery, a belt-alternator starter, and more wiring may not fit so neatly in a mid-engined Lambo.

If the engineers can make it work, don’t expect the Huracán to use a hybrid assist as on the 2019 Audi A8. Lamborghini is more concerned with wringing every last pony from the 5.2-liter V-10, although our source tells us that engine—which started life in the Gallardo and peaks at 631 horsepower in the Huracán Performante—is reaching its limit.

Regardless of whether Lamborghini increases power and rewires the entire car, the team is also considering a GT3 version that would be more hard core than the rear-wheel-drive Performante introduced this year. Lamborghini executives started promising rear-wheel-drive Huracán variants as soon as the car debuted for 2014, and while the LP580-2 and Performante are as raw as ever, a true Superleggera is in the cards. Picture a street-legal version of the latest Super Trofeo Evo race car in the vein of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, and you’re not far off.

But like all of these proposals, the GT3 hasn’t been okayed for production. Whatever final form the refreshed Huracán takes, it’ll no doubt keep us out of breath for several more years.
