Elva [Official] Mclaren Elva

The McLaren Elva is a limited-production mid-engine sports car manufactured by McLaren Automotive. The car is the fifth in the McLaren Ultimate Series, after the F1, the P1, Senna, and the Speedtail. The open-top sports car is inspired by the open top race cars developed by Bruce McLaren in the 1960s.

Oh, that's interesting. Another video goes missing. For this one, though, I wrote down what the quarter mile was. 10.5s at 144mph. Interestingly, the trap speed is rather low considering Mclaren are claiming this to be lighter than the Senna. With +80kg for the passanger and 144mph pass, that would put the kerb weight with full fuel at 1380kg if the pass was also done on almost full tank. If the pass was done on near empty tank as they normally do, then add ~60kg to that. There could be some variation because of how un-aerodynamic the car is at high speeds and because of conditions, and also if the engine was making more power than claimed - or somehow less. In any case, the result went against at least some of Mclaren's claims. So maybe that could be a part of why they wanted it gone. Or maybe it just was the car being slower than the 765LT, which might not bode well for the Elva sales.

So this thing, in US money is $1.7 million? WHAT? A tidily specced 765 LT is what, $365K?
Surely, there'll be a 765 LT Spider too? Rather get that and save a whack of cash!

765 with any type of spec on it will be $460k. Still a relative bargain and it’s just as quick.

I was thinking yesterday as I was cleaning my 765 in the garage, there’s not another car I’d take over it until you hit LaFerrari. It’s the most interesting, best performing, and most insane car ever made under $1mm. It’s limited and numbered. I just love it.

Better looking, but unless I am a true Macca nut (not to be confused with a macadamia nut), it's just a weird and needless exercise. The quest to squeeze out fatter profits is just a bit too blatant.

I'm confirmed with the car for 2 hours tomorrow.

In addition, I'll get to drive the Turbo S almost 500 miles back and forth to Philly area. I'll get to the learn the car well in that time.
