Please can the USA get the diesel...

Really looking forward to the Geneva release, and an eventual test drive. I think this might be a great runabout. Too bad they won't bring the diesel to the states.

Ditto for the R.S.A. - here the X1 costs nearly twice as much as a VW Tiguan, so the Mini Countryman would be more popular amongst buyers

In terms of value for money, looks and the fact that you have 4wd etc...I would rather replace wifes 120i with the Countryman...though sadly I have to admit that the Koreans have made a new KIA Sportage that I like AND you can buy 3 of them specked full house for the price of a X1 in RSA...I will wait for the 2010 World Cup launch of the KIA locally and make my decision between the KIA and the Mini...though times (recession) though decisions

Roads are bad here so can't replace 1er with 1er...

Weigth for Countryman Cooper D All4 is 1375kg according to German AMS, don't know if it's EC or DIN weight.

That red-and-white Cooper D doesn't look good at all. I'm whirling about on this Countryman - one minute it looks passable in Cooper S guise with a decent paint job and the next it looks bulbous and bloated (the very antithesis of what Mini should stand for).

I have heard a similar figure. Seems like I was right all along; it would be hard for them to make it weigh more than 1,400 kgs

I brought a Countryman home a few days ago and people went crazy over it. I had neighbours knock on my door , asking for a closer look , it was more or less a similar form of hysteria when I first brought a 1st generation MINI home back in 2001.

Reaction to this car both in my town and genuine interest in the market has been exceptional. People who have seen the car are genuinely appreciative because now with their needs and requirements fullfilled they can now get a MINI , Our expectations based on interest and pre-orders that are stacking up point to this car being a continuation of success for the MINI brand. The MINI Countryman could return to the early days of MINI when demand outstipped supply and several markets had waiting lists.

I had a mini for 2 days a while back while the X5 was being software updated. I have absolutely no idea how anyone can part with such exorbitant amounts of cash and get something so toy like. I'm pretty sure this car will preserve that 'character' so it's a no go in my books. This iteration is pretty damn ugly too. At least the standard car is ‘cute’.
