Boxster/Cayman (981/987) [Official] Porsche Boxster (981 Series)

The Porsche 987 is the internal designation for the second generation Porsche Boxster sports car, built from 2004 to 2012. In 2005, it was joined in the range by the new Cayman fastback coupé (project 987c).
As with the 911, I'm not a fan of the front air intakes - especially the middle, fake one!- but the details I can bitch about are so irrelevant, that I could fairly say that I absolutely love it. Top shelf design quality right there.
The Cayman is going to be seriously hot!! Are we gonna see it in Paris this year?

We certainly will. Late spring launch for the Boxster and late autumn launch for the Cayman. I'm glad Porsche went adventurous on the design. Two weeks ago I saw the new 911 and it took about 2 seconds for me to notice that it was the new one, but the give away was the day time driving lights. For non Porsche africando its won't be easy to distinguish the proud and near perfect 997 from the evolutionary 991. Is it a bad thing? No, because that what the 911 customers wants.

Boxster buyers on the other hand are younger, they like exposed tailpipes, drama, adventurous bumper designs, spoilers and fancy LED lights. The traditionalist might have a slight dislike for the new Boxster but for the price segment its in, the design fits the car like a glove.

Love the damn steering wheel..abit Huayraish:D..

^^
New 991, new Cayenne, new Boxster, new Cayman later this year and a facelifted Panamera for the end of the year.

Wow. It is difficult to fault any of the car. All of them have top desirability in their segments.

Crikes, that looks good :icondrool Headlamps remind me a bit of the Toyota Mr2 though and I don't really like the interiors in modern Porsches.

I was initially worried about that too when I saw those spy pics a few months back. Truth be told, i do fine it reminiscent of the MR2/MR-S, but when I look at the whole package, it looks so good I'm willing to overlook that.

This is where the business is that. Looking at the front end's resemblance with the 918, a 918 replica bumper will be out even before the super car.

The first one is my next car guys or the last one I'm still not sure.......
For me this is the best looking car in the world and it will for sure be one of the best driver's cars in the world.....
Can I wait for the Cayman... One thing is for sure we will have a Boxster/Cayman in our forum pretty soon. Enough BMWs...
I'm really happy that there is a car like that out there! THANK YOU PORSCHE !!!!

If one is looking to see what perfection looks like, please refer to this:

If i had a Boxster S just like that with with red calipers and a Bordeaux/Cohiba leather interior, I would happily drive that for the rest of my life.

BTW, Porsche needs to stick exclusively with paddles with their PDK instead of those dinky sliders. The steering wheel looks downright anemic with the sliders versus the steering wheel with the flappy paddles.

How big will this beauty be in comparison to the 911? Are they around the same size or is the Boxster usually considerably tighter fit than the comparable 911.

The next Cayman might seriously be a game changer.

Porsche is on fire.

Wow, I absolutely love it. The Boxster finally sheds the poor mans Porsche image for me. I absolutely love it.

Let me tell you that there is no such thing as a poor man's Porsche. I wish there was!

In South Africa a loaded boxster s is about R850,000 - without the costly extras like navigation. That is about $110,000 USD

According to the website,

new boxter vs new carrera cabrio

length: 4,374 mm vs 4,491 mm
width: 1,801 mm vs 1,808 mm
height: 1,282 mm vs 1,299 mm
wheelbase: 2,475 mm vs 2,450 mm
Unladen weight (DIN): 1,310 kg vs 1,450 kg

So the new Boxter is about 12 cm shorter than the new 911 and 140 kg lighter. Other body differences are negligible.
Considering there is no back bench and the wheelbase is even slightly (2 cm) longer on the Boxter, it shouldn't really be a tighter fit than a 911.

Like the 997 Porsche have fixed the things that I felt needed addressing on the Boxster like it's interior and making the rear spoiler look less like an afterthought.

Unless you are a performance hungry nut the new Boxster is all the Porsche you ever need.

For me, this is the best looking roadster in its segment & the most perfect Porsche in the line up! :usa7uh:
(i don't like Panamera for its hatchback style & Cayenne's for the rear lights. The new 911 is a good looking car but too simple for my taste i guess.. :) ) But this new Boxster, just one word : PERFECT! I like everything about this car from the front part, side, rear, & interior. Just PERFECT! :usa7uh:
One thing that bugging me a little is how this car resemble the old Toyota MR-2/MR-S. I think if this car came up with Toyota badge, people will instantly recognize it as a new generation of Toyota, especially the headlights and side air intakes..

But, never mind, it's still a PERFECT Porsche for me.. :usa7uh:
