Velar [Official] Range Rover Velar

The Land Rover Range Rover Velar, generally known as the Range Rover Velar, is a crossover SUV produced by Jaguar Land Rover under their Land Rover marque. The fourth model in the Range Rover line, the Velar was unveiled on 1 March 2017 in London, England. The name Velar had previously been used for a series of pre-production first-generation Range Rovers in 1969.
A blurb about pricing in the U.S.

The entry level Velar will be very competitively priced at $50,895 but will only be offered with the 247-hp inline-four, and coil-spring suspension. However all three engines will be available in the other trim levels: S, R-Dynamic SE, and R-Dynamic HSE.

With the 2.0-liter gas engine under the hood, the Velar S starts at $55,695, the R-Dynamic SE at $61,095, and the R-Dynamic HSE at $68,595. The 180-hp diesel adds $1,500 to those prices, and the 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 adds $9,500. As with the Jaguar F-Pace, there will be a limited run of 500 First Edition Velars available only for the 2018 model year. Priced at $90,295, these will all come standard with the 380-hp V-6, full two-tone leather interior, copper weave carbon fiber trim, a 1,600W Meridien sound system, special 22-inch alloy wheels, and the choice of three colors including an exclusive satin finish silver from Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations.

Not much cheaper than a RR Sport, especially after you look past the entry level model and if you want the V6.

This is what the Evoque should have been from the start.

Now nobody in their right mind will buy the Evoque.

Um, it gets pricey real fast. But it's a looker for the most part. Has some oddity from the rear 3/4 but still has great presence.

Phenomenal!
Based on what I see it's well worth the premium.
It's not modernistic, nor is it futuristic.
This is how I envision a true modern car should look both inside and out.

I need to see one in black!

Official Australian pricing.

Range from $70,300 to $135,400 before on-road costs. A special ‘First Edition’ variant will also be offered at launch, priced from $167,600 – again before on-road costs are applied.

This will fly out of the showrooms based on the design alone.

Really looks so smooth and elegant with those flush door handles giving it's styling the appearance of a concept car. The interior is a new benchmark in car interior design it provides a brilliant combination of luxury, sportiness and elegance and modern art

Just like the Evoque below it, sensationally styled inside and out but it's expensive for what it truly is...

It's half SUV, half luxury accessory. The entry level 4-Cylinder is the equivalent to Apple launching a 16GB iPhone 7 Plus: Sexy and cutting edge but pricey and not justifiably better than what's already available.

Congrats to Land Rover for making a car thats smoking hot from every angle. For those who can't afford it, the F Pace remains a looker that's more sensibly priced.

Both externally and internally it could be mistaken for a new generation RR Sport too. It begs the question, what are they going to do with the next generation RR Sport? Drastically change the design?

The new dashboard looks fantastic, but front seats- backwards it looks, dare I say, a bit cheap, especially considering the pricing.

So it rivals the X3/GLC in size, but X5/GLE in price

Having checked the specs. It's GLE/Cayenne/X5 in both price and specs . Comparing like for like engines, the Velar is even a bit more expensive than the German.

This car has got nothing to do with the GLC, X3 and Q5. Land Rovers closest car to them in size is the Discovery Sport which is practical but very utilitarian on the inside. The ideal would be for the Evoque to grow in size and get the new and more powerful 4 cylinder engines.

The Velar looks huge though. Bigger than I had hoped. It's even longer than the Jag F-Pace which itself is a large car. It's a gorgeous machine though. Stunning. Much want.

Velar looks closer in size to the Range Rover Sport than the Evoque. Shame there isn't a true Evoque Sport or SVR version.
