A8/S8 [Official] The new Audi A8

Better to go to some VAG forum for that. Why do you want to know BTW?
Well, it’s the GermanCF and the A8 is still a German car.

Just out of curiosity, if the D5 is suffering quality and cost cutting issues. Someone in my family is experiencing some issues, like strange trembling noises in the interior, a panoramic roof that whistles when driving a bit faster and some other things.

I work at an Audi dealership, I can confirm that even new A8s have some build quality issues. If it's been assembled well, its really good. But we have had to redo the roof-liner on a brand new A8 before because it was creaking and wasn't installed or sealed properly (?)

Just sat in a brand new A8 of a friend of mine. What a very nice car to sit in! Everything you touch, feels good. The buttons, the leather, the alcantara rooflining, the door opener, the indicator stalks, gear selector, window opener buttons, really everything.
An S class is objectively, as a whole, the better car, but… what an extreme nice interior to be in. It touches your heart, well, it did mine.

It’s drive wasn’t bad either (S8).

The D5 A8 appears to have aged incredibly well. IMHO, it remains a plausible alternative to the ICE versions of the BMW 7 series and the W223 M-B S-Class. What interests me is if, how and with what Audi will follow up the D5. The Grandsphere concept of some 3 years ago may be and hopefully be a relatively accurate precursor to a future D6. That would be truly "grand". But much appears to be in a bit of upheaval in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm, hence leaving it a bit difficult for anybody other than genuine insiders to predict just what new products Audi may have in store.

It has aged well, indeed. Realizing the A8 was introduced in july 2017, it truly holds grounds against the competition.
What’s next is unclear for me as well. Sometime ago, rumors were A8 as a classic sedan/limousine would be axed. I haven’t heard that in a long time now. My hopes are Audi stays loyal to this particular segment.

I didn't know that Audi already launched the Horch version of the A8, I heard about it before but didn't notice its launch. The exterior changes to the basic A8 almost mimic what changes Maybach has done to the S-class especially the 2 tone paint and the large-sized mono block wheels as well as the extra chrome on the grill. It looks quite good on the exterior, but the interior looks a little disappointing in that its not much different to the standard A8. I think the Horch seat pillows dont look expensive and the headrests seem to be missing some soft pillows.

A little disappointing to see a V6 under the bonnet.

That S8 still looks very stylish. I have to say this gen D5 A8 is over 7 years old, but you would never say it it has aged very well. I still think the rear end design looks crisp and modern. The interior looks better in my opinion than the latest A5 and A6 models.

I think it looks just as bland, invisible, and unimpressive as the day it debuted. So sure, at least it's been consistent.
Yeah. It's not really a blockbuster aspirational product. I wonder whether VAG saloons like these are still popular in China.

Yes, the D5 A/S8 now appears to be preparing to draw its terminal breath.

An interesting side note:

At the official presentation of the Audi/SAIC A U D I E Concept, a teaser image of three tarp-covered vehicles was projected. Three Audi/SAIC joint venture vehicles that are due for official presentation in 2025. One of them appeared to be a large, lower slung and rakish "Sportback-esque" sedan. It was most certainly not the serial production version of the E Concept. Another vehicle was what appeared to be "A3/Q3-sized".

They literally have nothing to lose here. Totally ripping it all up and starting over with an EV replacement may be the way to go. Again, nothing to lose now. The generation A8 is just a total flop.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
