S90/V90 [Official] Volvo S90 Official first pics

The Volvo S90 is an executive sedan manufactured and marketed by Volvo Cars from 2016 to 2025. Its estate variant is the Volvo V90.
One thing that really impresses me is the quality and price. I'm comparing this to get as a company car for my uncle to the new e class 220d and price wise there's no comparison. Quality wise there's little. My uncle is getting a fully loaded T5 in the next month. Volvo really has a winner here. Only negative is the terrible sound of the diesel.

The prices are great aren't they? What would stop me from buying a new S90 or V90 are the engines. They haven't exactly been praised by the media.

Yes, and Denmark is part of Scandinavia.

You didn't get my drift, when most people think Scandinavian design it's generally Danish design and designers they are thinking of, Hay, Georg Jensen, Jacob Jensen, Arne Jacobsen, Louise Poulsen, EVA Solo, VIPP........the list goes on and on, Sweden and Norway aren't in the same ballpark as the Danes when it comes to hip, funky and cool design.

I think its somewhat insulting to the Danes to lump there design awesomeness in with the relatively dull design from Norwegians and Swedes and call it Scandinavian. Finland is also full of fantastic designers and design but that all depends if you want to consider Finland part of Scandinavia.

I don't think they are great at all, both S and V 90's start at a significantly higher price point than the S80 and V70, Pricing in Norway is at German executive levels.

But how does that stop them being Scandinavian design?

Because the Danes call it Danish design not Scandinavian design. I used to share the same opinion as most people, like you, until I met a designer for a very well know Danish lighting company, she put me straight very quickly.

Put it this way is a 911 a German design or a European design? I think most of us would agree it's German.

From the Georg Jensen webpage.

The Georg Jensen brand is based on a number of shared values such as integrity, authenticity and Danish design. All resonating the Danish values - the simplicity of life, the Nordic light, clean water and fresh air – and all capsulised in the Georg Jensen Vision, Mission and Values. Respecting our DNA and our values it is both our obligation and our opportunity to run a profitable business providing products relevant to the consumer of today.

From Eva Solo

Eva Solo creates exclusive, Danish-designed furnishing accessories and kitchenware characterised by aesthetic appeal, functionality and high quality. Tools which are a pleasure to look at, use and own.

You can look at any webpage for a Danish design company and I doubt you will see them mention Scandinavia at all, they are Danish and proud of it.

All these points may have validity. However, in the context of your reply to @Gianclaudio, to any observer your reply could only mean you had an issue with someone saying Denmark was part of Scandinavia, and completely miss the point you subsequently made about Scandinavian design actually really being "Danish" design.

As it stands you have still rated my comment "Denmark is part of Scandinavia" with a "disagree", which makes no sense whatsoever, whatever the point you're making about Danish design being mistaken for Scandinavian design.

To a lot of Americans, for example, "European sports car" is as interchangeable as "German sports car". To them it's a generic term which has certain connotations, whether they're talking about a Porsche, Jaguar, Ferrari.

Its Eurovision night live from Stockholm. Look what they are using for the VIP service.

A real boon for Sweden.

I saw a S90 in this new blue colour on Dutch motorway this morning. Brief, but very clear the new S90. As far as I know, they aren't even in Dutch showrooms yet...?

Not seen it yet anywhere. But, the S90 will not be a big seller, compared to the stationwagon and SUV. Volvo sedans never did well over here.

Wow this R edition of the S90 looks great, very nice set of wheels and fantastic looking seats, they look mega comfortable.
