Personal Big News / Big Thank You!

...does this job invlove travel to shows or not? Just curious if you will ever make it to NYC?

It does. These guys are very dialed-in to what's up and coming in the automotive biz. Later this month I'll probably be in Vegas for the SEMA show.

There are people in the company who make their way to Frankfurt, and just about everything else. I'll probably just be attending domestic shows.

I never thought that obsessive posting about cars on the internet would lead to a career path, but here I am! I got a real kick out of telling this to my wife, since she always teased me about my GCF compulsion.

So when do you start work?

I already did, but I'm doing the work off-site right now because they need to terminate the guy who currently holds my position.

Right now I'm working on a presentation display for a new vehicle Honda wants to introduce to the US.

congrats on the new job osna.

keep us updated with the workings of the automotive promotional world please, i think it would be interesting to see how companies promote their vehicles and which audiences they target. (if it doesn't get you in any trouble of course :D )

I'm gonna have to learn discipline, because I'm going to be exposed to all kinds of sensitive information that's not intended for public consumption. New vechicles, product development... all that junk.

P.S. Isn't it great to work with german cars? :usa7uh:

Unfortunately the NY office takes care of Audi, but we get Mercedes-Benz and Maybach. I'm not gonna complain!

Just wondering Osna, since you're going to waiting till '07 for the 330i, would you now maybe consider the 335i, ...or would that stretch your wallet to the size of a laptop ? :D

I'll totally consider the 335i. I've decided it would be prudent to live cheap as possible for the next year instead of diving right into a new vehicle. If the 335i has the goods for a price that's reasonable enough I'm all for it!

Do you have a marketing degree?

No, I only have a design degree, but I think I've almost earned the equivilant of one hanging out with you guys for the past three years!

If you want a 330i talk to me because my dad happens to be a dealer out in LA. I'm pretty sure I can get you a good deal!

That's awesome. I'll keep this in mind and hit you up sometime next year. I'm all hung up on the prospect of a 335i now!

I agree, those will be awsome! when those come out and you need a car just email me or leave me a message and hopefully we can work something out.

Now is the 335 engine going to be available for the 3er sedan? I was reading that the engine would be available for the coupe MY2007, but haven't seen any mention of the sedan.

The engine will be availible for the 335i. I have even seen spy shots of a 335i.

That sounds about right... if not sooner. Scott said it will be reveal by late 2005 so it should make it by then I think.

I've seen 5ers too with the new turbo being tested.

My bet is that we will see this engine in a lot of BMWs; Z4, 3er, 5er, 6er...

Osna, a suggestion. Just wait a little while longer to see what Benz comes up with for the new C. I've got a feeling were going to finally get a new class leader. :t-drive:

Sounds painful :eek2: :D

Ok, cool. Maybe they will bring in the Japanese Odyssey as something else, considering how well it's doing here. Though with a bigger engine? Oh well, just speculating..

Anyhow, waiting for the new C-class might be good, at least then you'll have one more point of comparison, or at least one more factor that will help BMW dealers to reduce prices. The IS might have been good, but I suppose you've gone off that now. (I had a chance to sit in one at the Sydney Show, quite nice, but it is a little cramped in the back, about as much as the E46 3er. I was a bit annoyed because one of the Lexus hostesses kicked me out because she wanted to "show someone one of the features"; maybe she thought I was just having pictures taken in it - well, I was, but I was also seeing if the car was nice.)

A 335i would be great, depending on what the drive is like. Doubt it'll be cheap though. A 330i sounds pretty fine, too!

LOL :laugh2: Luckily for me my girlfriend doesn't tease me! Though maybe she doesn't know the extent of my posting here :D How's your wife coping with having to speak English all the time now anyway? That must make a nice change for you though, to be back in your native language country.

hahahahahahaha :D :t-hihi:
dude you make me laugh!!

Well, just as much as I'm sure the new C will be a great car, I can't see myself in one. I'm turning 28 this week, and have the look and demeanor of a "finger on the pulse Mr. Hipster biz. cas. fridays smartass" kind of guy. I'm a Levi's person as opposed to a Bananna Republic person - so from a purely cultural point of view, a Benz is simply out of the question. I'd have to cut my hair, and people would think I'm some sort of IT specialist / Real-Estate hot shot... and perhaps a complete asswipe too.

Even then, I'm extremely wary of 1st year product - especially when it comes to German Cars. The E90 has earned enough praise to get me in one, but I'd be even more comfortable if said car is an '07. I'm also crossing my fingers that BMW will revise the rear lights for next year's car.

I'll probably lease, but the jury is still out on my final decision.

In the meantime, I'm driving my Mom's brand new Scion xA, which I believe is the Toyota Yaris back in Germany. Not bad - For 15k US the car is decently equipped with a 6spk stereo w mp3 read, aux input and an iPod dock. My mother went down to the Toyota dealership last night and put 10k down on the thing! I was shocked. For her it's a perfect fit. Great milage, pretty good space and no sticker shock.
