Hot! Porsche: What's Next

Top” ICE derivatives is clear: RS-only models in the ICE lineup which means that Porsche’s entry point for sports cars being EV remains the most likely prospect.

I'm confident that top derivatives is referring to their most profitable units aka the GT4 and GTS 4.0.

GT4 RS market has softened significantly faster than the regular GT4 therefore I don't think they're solely referring to the RS

Two new gas and hybrid powered SUVs. I assume the D-Segment SUV is the one that based on the Premium Platform Combustion Q5.

The SSP Sport architecture being put on the back burner is not free of risks. In fact, what is now perceived as "alleviating risk" may evolve into a measure that actually promotes it. Of essence is the development of the most highly modular architecture possible. Nearly limitlessly scalable. And able to accomodate BEV, REEV and ICE Hybrid powertrains with the greatest possible assembly line flexibility.

IMHO, banking on a secure mid-to-longer term future for ICE PHEV is risky. Current range anxiety and perceived auditory deficits as deterrents BEVs are diminishing quickly, the client base that perceives these as "problems" being reduced. Also partly due to "natural attrition". As placing all eggs in the "BEV powertrain basket" is currently risky, this especially with regard to the continued rapid place of innovation that has yet to reach a plateau in which PURCHASING customers can feel secure that they have not bought something that could be obsolete in 1-2 years time.

We’ll have to wait and see.

Interesting on the take up between ICE and Electric 718. Good decisions though. Our industry fighting back against the watermelons in power.

Frankly, the often ideologically dogmatic , often highly emotionalized politicization of the ICE vs. BEV debate is proving detrimental to all involved and is too frequently devoid of rational, pragmatic, forward focused input. It is absolutely silly and it obstructs rather than promotes progress.

There was a time when Porsche offered an attainable entry point into a proper sports car experience where Boxsters and Caymans sold in good, profitable numbers. And customers were happy.

You remember these old tube TVs before flatscreens? This is the same. That version of Porsche is never coming back.
The regular cars are almost boring and way overpriced, the special cars are more expensive than an average apartment.
Insane, and wrong on different levels.

But the same can be said about BMW for me. If it's not an M, I am not quite interested anymore.
The normal cars all suck, and that's exactly why I can't wait for the NK cars to come along. Hopefully these will be more fun than a severely underpowered 4 pot (which is the average BMW over here).

have you driven a 718 GTS 4.0?

992.1 GTS? Fast and fantastic.

718 no, 992.1 GTS yes since a friend just bought one secondhand. But I would hardly call these base.

A 992.1 GTS was from 220k in my country, the new one is probably way worse even.
Simply insane. That car is a 150k car tops IMO.

Edit; yeah the new one is another 20k more expensive.
The difference with an actual base 911 and a GTS in price is a BMW 330e.

BMW and Porsche seem to be the only ones speaking out in regard to giving their Electric models the attributes of what has gave them their success through history. I am finding many Electric cars soulless, devoid of a personality and more of an automotive iPad, a gadget. In other words an appliance first. Car second. There have been Western manufacturers who have fallen for this because they are chasing the Chinese market as the domestics successfully offer this.

With a discount it's not far off €150,000 in the NL, as the other €60,000 is the BPM which goes straight to the Belastingdienst and not Porsche.

Current pricing levels for Macan EV look attractive at first until you spec a nice version that fits all your needs. I did it with a 4S and ended up at 136k. If you compare that with a similar sized, fully specced iX3 50 which is technologically more advanced and ends up at 86k, it's quite a big difference. Only benefit for Porsche in my view is the sliding roof though never worth a 50k price difference.

Interesting. A base 992 is not interesting to me at all. A base 991.1... sign me up.
A base 992 isn’t crazy interesting to me either, but I’m just saying it’s more interesting and special to drive than new M BMWs since they were talking about new cars. If you drive a base Carrera vs a M3 there is just no contest in terms of steering feel, sound, and overall fun on a backroad.

Carrera 991.1s have terrible dead electric power steering. That was their first go at it, they improved it a ton for the GT3 and all the 991.2s. For me peak modern Porsche is the 997.2. It’s the right size as well, the 991 they grew the wheelbase a ton in order to have a hybrid version (that never ended up actually happening).
