Random Thoughts...

Sitrep update. The cylinder head is out. The issue is clear. The piston and cylinder are fine.

On Monday we need to decide what to order. I'll certainly go for a new full set of valves and gaskets, a visit to the machine shop and I think it would be wise to replace the turbo as well, while we're in there...

Also, the injectors will be sent for cleaning. Something's certainly wrong with the cylinder.

A small update.

Last week I was delivered a new set of valves (20 of them), a new set of gaskets for everything that bolts on the cylinder head, new head bolts, and new vacuum lines. The cylinder head has been sent at a specialist machine shop, for machining, new valve seats and guides, new valve seals and gap spacing, as the B5204T5 came with mechanical valve tappets, and not hydraulic ones.

Also, the turbocharger got refurbished today. New shaft and seals, plus rebalancing. I should have it tomorrow. The only thing I haven't done is send the injectors for cleaning and testing. Will do, though.

If all goes well, the engine may be assembled by the end of the month!

Congratulations (y)

If your engine is still out you could check the clutch and change it If necessary.

Last week I helped my mate to disassemble a B5254T3 of a Focus ST, because the piston 2 was broken and you couldn’t move the engine anymore, he decided to swap the engine, and bought a used one with 110k km.

The new engine works fine, but he took 1 week off to swap the engine at home.

Luckily he worked as a mechanic in the past.

Currently we’re hunting some vibrations under full throttle, we think the engine mount might be the problem.

The engine is still in the car. The cylinder head is out. But the clutch is fairly new. I had it done a few years ago, when the clutch release bearing exploded.

It's the same engine essentially. The 5 cylinder block is modular. But still non-hydraulic valve tappets in all versions!

Gave something for an employee's 14 year old and step son to do. Both got suspended from school for disrespecting their teachers. He had to stop during a timing chain job on an Audi to come and pick them up from school. Had 20 scrap brake rotors that needed to go on my scrap rotor pile in stacked nicely in one area in my back room and put some junk catalytic converters on the shelf. Also sweep the floor in my parts room where I keep my stock items which are the oil filters, oil and antifreeze. He told them no complaining which there was none, told them this was one consequence for what they did. Him and his wife have a punishment for them at home too

Some really cool cars, including this trio of Type 980 Carrera GT's.

No I didn’t, but I know some of the cars because they drive here.

The red Spyder RS, the grey GT4 RS and the R8 in white with yellow stripes, I saw the latter yesterday.
Edit: The Giulia QV GTA is also a lokal. All of these cars Sound absolutely delicious.
