Photography My Photography - many cars, some random stuff

Thought I'd remind myself of this thread... the photography has fallen off a cliff this year thanks to other personal and work commitments, I have taken a few though, nothing to write home about... but I've decided that my goal for the next couple of years is follow the Dakar first hand with my camera... without a doubt I think it generates some of the best motorsport photography there is.

Anyhow.. I've not been near a race car in months :( so here's some arty crap I tried...

A Dying Wasp... this is another macro shot taken by holding my 50mm prime lens the wrong way around, against the front of a longer lens. Normally you'd want to do this with a lot of light, a lens-lens adapter ring, and a tripod, as it gives an insanely short focal length and aperture issues. However, I'd had a pint at the Euston tap, a pint at the Doric Arch and at least one more in the Bree Louise Public houses, and it was all hand held... I quite liked the result.

The Amazing Pinhole DSLR Spiderman!

This is a rubbish photo, no question. However, this was taken without using a lens at all on the camera. Instead, it uses a pin prick in a piece of aluminium (taken from a beer can), stuck over a bigger hole drilled in the body cap for the camera... it is in effect a Digital Pinhole camera. I'm surprised it worked as well as it did, the next attempt will feature a smaller, more precise hole to sharpen up the image.. I'd like to perfect this ready for some Autumnal shots in my local woods. It also does a good job of showing up all the dust on the camera sensor!

Couple of old holiday snaps...

Well, since my camera is gathering dust :( thought I'd post something a bit different. This doesn't use the medium of photography, but I've got nowhere else to post it, so here will do.

It's an A3 pen and ink drawing I did about a decade ago.. took about 3 years to complete, and yes, I was drinking a lot at the time.

If I am not mistaken, everything revolves around the pair of boobs in the middle of your artistry.

Is it artistic conception or just drunken thoughts?

Ha ha.. close, everything revolves around the sun... just to the right of the boobs.

It has a purpose, bits of it were carefully constructed... then it's fleshed out by drunken thoughts.

I don't think alcohol is the issue at all. It's obviously the crystal meth you were clearly taking at the time.

:D

That's either a very good observation of a major element...

... or just a suggestion I've had a problem with a Crystal Meth od.

Just noticed, in the resolution the forum embeds in, there's an awful lot that can't really be seen... if anyone's interested.. clicky for a biggy

Cool pics @Matski and great collection of different cars racing

Thanks.

It is a good selection they manage to get running in the BTCC... it's a 32 car grid with Saloons, Estates, 3- and 5-door hatches, "4-door Coupes", FWD, RWD all basically running in the same technical class.

Yesterday was only a test day so no actual racing, but it's still fun.

Since personal choices for the greater good (I hope) continue to decimate anything like my hobby of watching racing cars race...

... I only have other, non racing car stuff to shoot these days :(

So, I've not bothered with uploading to Flickr since they changed their TOS - infact I've deleted all the content it will let me, and I don't think GCF embeds the media very well... but anyway... the photo's I managed to take at Goodwood, before getting ****ed coping with broken bones... are here... flickr.com/photos/mattstokes1/albums/72157709542692736
