If I were to buy a Volvo right now, I would have a very hard time.

The two most important reasons I like mine, are the supreme comfort it offers and the 5-cylinder engine.

Every Volvo-badged product that I came to test-drive the past two years lacked both.
Those are two very strong points indeed Giannis. My wife's V70 has a 5 cylinder diesel combined with an automatic gearbox, which engine sounds marvelous. The comfort of a V70 is very good as well.
I think comfort won't be the problem with the upcoming S/V90 and XC90. The current S/V60 however are rather harsh in suspension.

Will replace the S80

Our friends at TopSpeed have come up with a speculative render of Volvo's all-new S90 due to go on sale next year.

If you are in the market for a premium mid-size sedan but the German styling isn't to your liking, you might want to wait until next year when Volvo will introduce the S90 which will serve as a replacement for the aging S80. Seen here is a potential look for the Swedish flagship sedan which has already been caught on camera a couple of times, but unfortunately it was heavily camouflaged.

The China-built S90 will utilize the same Scalable Product Architecture as the all-new XC90 which means it will be powered exclusively by four cylinder engines and should receive a range-topping T8 Twin Engine version with a 400 PS & 640 Nm hybrid setup consisting of a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter turbocharged & supercharged engine working together with a rear-mounted electric motor.

Following the S90's launch, Volvo will introduce a V90 wagon which will take cues from the stunning Concept Estate.

You better drive an XC90 then, ok no 5 cylinder engine but if there's a more comfortable SUV I've yet to find it.

I'm very excited about the new XC90 and I'm eagerly waiting for it to arrive here. I guess it will take quite a while though, given the current financial situation here...

It's amazing how many are already on the road in Norway.

Not everyone in Greece lacks money, local Volvo dealers should already have demo cars and people will be buying them.

Allow me to know a bit more about the current financial situation in my country than you.

That said, the local Volvo dealer currently has a basic V40 diesel and a couple of used S60's in the lot. The same dealership also sells Ford, BMW and Suzuki cars.

:)

I'm sure you know a lot more than I do, although I suspect the rich still have money to spend on things like nice cars. The really rich will be like the really rich in most countries completely insulated from the financial troubles of those beneath them.

Even for our eagle-eyed spy shooters, the Volvo's forthcoming S90 flagship sedan has been a rare sight, but thankfully a person had their camera ready when this heavily camouflaged example drove by. There might only be three of them, but these photos are our best look yet at the upcoming model.

The obfuscation obviously makes picking out the S90's styling traits incredibly difficult, but there are a few things to notice. Up front you can spot the stacked headlights that are bisected by LED running lights, similar to the latest XC90. Also like the brand's newest crossover, there's quite a broad grille visible behind the plastic. While the rest is very hard to discern, rumors suggest the design to take some cues from the gorgeous Concept Estate.

The S90 is part of Volvo's updated model nomenclature and the sedan replaces the aging S80. The new vehicle will also share the Scalable Product Architecture modular platform with the XC90. The many common components should allow the S90 to make use of the crossover's powertrain range, as well, possibly including the eight-speed automatic gearbox and an available twin-charged hybrid four-cylinder engine. Inside, expect Volvo to keep things simple with as few buttons as possible.

The S90 should debut sometime this year, and production is slated for a newly expanded plant in Daqing, China. From there, the model would be exported all over the world, like the S60L. After the sedan hits the market, a V90 wagon on the same platform is reportedly on the way, too.

Looks terrible lol. Seriously though I can't wait to see this because this is the crucial moment where they transfer the new design language over to a car. The interior should be a knockout. The new E and 5er will have to make sure they step up a few notches or risk being passed by a Volvo.

So the S90 will not also be produced in Sweden and exported?

Volvo S90 scale model

Goes on sale next year
Several images of a scale model depicting the Volvo S90 have emerged onto the web ahead of an already confirmed 2016 market launch.

The pics were posted on a Chinese website and according to unspecified sources cited by Swedish auto magazine Teknikens Värld the scale models do show the real deal. This is an all-new model set to replace the aging S80 and as you can see the styling has been heavily influenced by the Concept Coupe, especially at the front where the sleek headlights feature those cool Thor's Hammer LED daytime running lights.

The side profile reveals a sloped roofline ending with a raked rear window and a large tailgate as well as big C-shaped taillights in the same vein as Volvo's recent concepts. It seems to adopt dual exhaust tips featuring a chrome finish while the "Volvo" lettering at the back sits on the trunk lid between the taillights. The third side window sits after the C pillar which indicates the S90 will be substantially larger than the S80 so it will provide a more accommodating interior cabin with more room especially for rear passengers.

Set to go on sale next year, the Volvo S90 mid-size sedan will ride on the company's brand new Scalable Product Architecture and will only be offered with four-cylinder engines which should mirror those of the second-gen XC90. It will be followed by a V90 wagon that will draw its inspiration from the highly appealing Concept Estate.

As expected its a four door version of the Coupe Concept, suggesting that the Estate will be a five dr version of the Shooting Brake, which is no bad thing.
Impressive...Most Impressive. Just a pity it won't be at Frankfurt.
