The Mercedes-Benz EQE (V295) is a battery electric executive car produced by Mercedes-Benz Group. It is part of the EQ family, and was presented at the Munich Motor Show 2021.
It's better to capitulate early and discontinue the model rather then live in denail and hemmorage more money. RIP EQE. You will not be missed.

Sales must be super bad. It's one thing for private buyers to reject it but if taxi drivers aren't touching it either then it's not worth keeping alive.

I recall that the EQE sedans initial reception was not so ill-boding at all. My local M-B dealership rep mentioned that interest was high when the car was presented in the showroom. But it appears that interest rapidly evaporated to next to nothing. There are a few running around in my immediate vicinity, but they've been here for a while and I have not been seeing additional new EQEs here. BMW i5's on the other hand, seem to be becoming more plentiful. And A6 etron Avants are becoming more common as well.

I suppose that it is safe to say that the EQE/EQS sedans have been a spectacular unit sales failure. Retiring them early appears a prudent business decision.
 
For Mercedes to pause production for USA models, was one thing, but to drop them all together is a yikes moment. The only reason the EQS isn’t being dropped I guess is because there is no immediate direct or indirect replacement coming for a few more years.

I'm wondering whether the official presentation of the "design converged" S-Class successors will be fast-tracked after all.

The new platform is not ready yet.
So, at least 3 years from now to get it operational that’s the main reason to keep the eqs family with the upgrade Eva 2 m. They have to be present in that segment even if sales will not be much better with the facelift.

No word on the EQS being discontinued. Maybe high-end fleet customers are buying it for chauffer services.
 
This is a depressingly long time.
I hope this MOPF next year for the EQS will improve the exterior (front grill design with prominent 3 pointed star and redesigned tail lights) and interior (less piano black and more comfortable rear seats) to help boost its sales.

Mercedes-Benz has had a tough time with its range of electric vehicles lately, which are failing to resonate with the company’s customer base. Some of that is due to a slowing demand for EVs, while some of it is because people just don’t find the brand’s EQ models to be as appealing with their alien-like designs.
Earlier this month, we reported on the news that Mercedes is temporarily suspended new orders of several EVs. That group included the mid-size EQE Sedan and EQE SUV, and now we’ve learned that these slow-selling EVs will go out of production entirely next year.
While the BMW 5 Series and its electric counterpart, the i5, share similar driving characteristics and near-identical designs, the same could not be said of the EQE in relation to the excellent new E-Class. Not many warmed to the EQE’s molten styling and uninteresting driving dynamics.
Mercedes sold only 2,300 EQEs in the first half of 2025, a massive 74.5% year-on-year decline. BMW i5 sales also declined, but by a less damaging 30%—3,333 i5 sedans were sold over the same period.
As Mercedes revises its EV plans, Autocar reports that the EQE sedan and SUV will go out of production next year, as the brand looks to eradicate some overlap in its lineup

That was already done on the first FL, the EQS has been on sale for over a year and a half with the classic grille and the star on the hood.
 
I'm still not abandoning all hope regarding a "fast tracking" of the S-Class/EQS successors. And that despite M-B AG being a "German manufacturer"* (*not necessarily a compliment in this particular context). Rapid innovation in the R&D as well as manufacturing of automobiles could lead to far more efficient, far shorter cycles. The relatively "standard" 7 year model cycles could conceivably be cut in half. Not to mention pressure due to the currently precarious state of revenues at M-B. We shall see.

Which is why it's so weird that this cycle has been the slowest ever, 5 years for a mopf is insane. Or has there already been a small one I missed ? I've been kinda outta the loop.

It would be great to get that new generation one year earlier.
But I think we’ll have to be a bit patient.
As all s class in the past the next gen has to be the best and the référence for the rest of car makers. It means that it needs to have the latest technology concerning e engines , batteries autonomous driving systems and so on.
Concerning engines, they are already working in what they call EDU 3 with smaller, efficient and more powerful units.

Indeed, some "hints" from forum contributors who have been privy to customer clinic presentations would always be appreciated. Even the subtle hints regarding proportions of the architecture, the sheetmetal sculpturing, lighting units and the like can be fascinating.
