Six months later - my Ford Fiesta ST MK8

Winter is not coming, my bike is back. I now own two vehicles with 3-cylinders. My little garage.

Fuel consumption is getting better after a few months ownership. 7000 kilometers later I have average of 64 Liters / 100 km (or 0,64 liter/mil) if I drive the car gently. You can probably improve it but its really hard to be light on your feet with a car like this.

No problems with the car so far.
- Ford Keyless Entry, I have this function turned off. I didn't feel save with it on, feels like it makes the car easier to steal.
- The button to change drive modes I wish it was placed on the steering wheel and not between the seats.
- I miss the illuminated door sills I had on my MK7 ST.
- Lane assist I turn this off sometimes. I don't like my car to adjust my driving, certainly not under active driving.

The winter wheels go so wheel with the black accents on the bumper/mirror/roof. I'm finding it hard to move on from my MK7 ST with Ford discontinuing them in North America. There's nothing else which compares in the same price/segment.

A sport filter panel installed. Had some problems to close the box after I installed the filter. I think the filter is a little thicker than standard?? Anyways, I had to disconnect the hose from the box and fix the box and filter first and then attach the hose again plus using my arm muscles to close everything ;)

I also plugged my Imap to my car and sent back ECU strategy and imap serials to DS. Got the files back after like 30 minutes.
I had some problems to get my Imap working together with the software I installed on my computer. Tried several times, restarted my computer and nothing happend. Then suddenly the program got updated and later found my device.

Ultima+ installed!
Took about 10 minutes. Don't start your engine at anytime, just push the button for 2-3 seconds and follow instructions.
Going to try ultima+ for a week before I change to Ultima2.

It's sounds like the car been louder and more pops during heavy acceleration. Could be my imagination.
The engine feels more alive and with quicker throttle response. Looking at the speedometer, the needle moves faster than before I think. Going from 120 - 150 km/h in sixth gear feels quicker than standard.
As I said, will be testing Ultima2 later and see if I notice any differences.

Dreamscience different maps:

DS Ultima. (Low Torque)

A great entry level Tune file for standard cars. This file will produce around 218bhp 240ftlb with the use of correct fuel grade and at cool ambient temperatures.
This file will work with cars that have a lane filter fitted. Always use 99RON Fuel. We advise to use V-power99

DS Ultima+ (High Torque)

The next level up from the Ultima tune. This is designed to work with our Panel filters and makes up one half of our stage 1 kit.
This Tune file should make up to 230 – 235bhp and 285ftlb of torque when set up correctly. Results are best with bolt on modifications such as Air scoops, intake,
GPF removal to achieve optimum power. Although the peak HP increase is impressive, it is the whopping 50bhp increase in the mid range that sets this map apart from the other remaps on the market.
This is where you will feel the biggest difference in performance and the results will portray this on the road/track where it matters! Not just a dyno graph. This will turbo your fiesta into an extremely quick car on the road. View Dyno Graph

DS Ultima 2.

Our latest stage 1 remap for the MK8 ST. MAP ONLY, this car will comfortably make between 225bhp and 232bhp with no modifications.
There is a mid range increase of over 17ftlbs torque and 10bhp compared to tbe previous DS Ultima+ ‘MAP ONLY’.
Although we quote around 32bhp increase over standard, we have customers running this tune with very basic bolt on mods have
achieved 252bhp on independent dyno’s. 252bhp graph.

Not did the car become faster it also become slightly louder after the remap. This is what mk8 ST sound like

Excellent! I missed your post about the power upgrade. How does the car feel to drive now that it's spring? Are you able to fully exploit the additional power?

The tuning community for the Fiesta and Focus ST will likely grow now that the Focus RS has been discontinued.

Excellent! I missed your post about the power upgrade. How does the car feel to drive now that...
Midrange torque between 2000 to 4500 rpm is the biggest difference. Everything between 0 to 120km/h in any gear is different from standard setting.
Using launch control is pointless because of wheelspin in first and second gear. And the launch is pretty aggressive in a way I feel sorry for the car. Only tried it 3 or 4 times.

What will be the next mod?

Sequential indicators like you see on VAG/Audi seem to be popular mod for mk8 st owners.

....but Im not a handyman

If I did regular trackdays I would change the brakes but the standard ones is ok for dailyuse. Maybe I get this, a front strut brace.

You don't have to be handy man or a mechanic to add cosmetic mods to your car. Pretty much every component on a car is design to be easily removed. Hence why police can install bugs in the cars' of suspects without their awareness.

Another mod. Replaced yellow foglights with white and brighter light. Also, added a so called armour protection. It's a small modification but in my opinion it enhance the look.
