Grecale [Spy Shots] 2022 Maserati Grecale

The Maserati Grecale (Tipo M182) is a front-engine, five-door, five passenger compact luxury crossover SUV (D-segment) manufactured and marketed by the Maserati subdivision of Stellantis, entering production at the company's Cassino Plant in March 2022. Internally designated model M182, the Grecale shares the company's Giorgio platform with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and the fifth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee. The nameplate Grecale derives from the Mediterranean wind, Gregale.
Why the hell does it sound so damn good for a V6? almost V8 like.

Overheard at a Miami Maserati multibrand dealer: “There are over 1,400 Grecales advertised on Cars.com. Not all dealers advertise there so probably a few hundred more. Don’t know if they are stocking cars in port again or not. Come the end of the year they’ll be throwing money at them again to move them”

And sales numbers are still in the toilet. The brand is sadly still lost...

For the money it’s crap. I was invited for the launch party .. nice event, food, drinks and an amazing coffee bar. The quality inside is horrid especially when you consider that the top trim is the same price as an X5M, a Nicely equipped Cayenne GTS, an RSQ8 etc. It’s not even worth half of what they charge

I actually found the interior quality to be quite good. The design is boring though. I’m not surprised the sales have been tepid. It’s a nice package but it doesn’t seem to stand out in any given way.

I agree with the last part, I said it when it was presented, I can't comment on the interior

There does seem to be a lot of interest in the Grecale where I live. I’ve seen quite a few on the road recently… saw a white trofeo parked at a plaza near my house today. It looks bigger than the GLC/X3/Q5 but the front is resembles a puffer fish. I’m sure over time I’ll learn to accept it

Yeah, the Grecale is sitting on the Giorgio platform and not one bit is traced back to American origins like the Levante, Ghibli, and Quattroporte.

Isn’t it?!? Who owns Maserati?

Stellantis is French. And even before that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles was run by an Italian guy up until his death. Further, the Grecale that was created for Alfa and never ended up being spread to the American makes under what was FCA.

I think it looks quite nice in real life, but too much like a Ford Puma. So, even if nice, is completely doomed design.

Meant to say the Grecale is on Giorgio platform that was created for Alfa.

unless i am missing something, the only American-ness found in the above stated cars were some shared Chrysler switchgear and the UConnect infotainment system. The latter of which was spread throughout FCA's offerings and still available today. And regarding who took the lead regarding UConnect, I don't if either the Italians or Americans took the lead in developing it or if it was something truly collaborative.
