I find myself really liking this. Just the LCI that the G60/61 needed IMHO.

At this point I am just looking forward to the next gen of car which will hopefully have separate platforms for ICE and EV. Looks like the LCI G60 will fix the looks, but the car is just too big and bulky especially for the amount of interior room you get.
My guess is that the combustion and hybrid powered 5er will likely be based on the CLAR platform all over again. But, without being compromised by the shared platform strategy like the current G60 and more like the G30 in terms of maintaining a pure-blooded gas powered sedan proportion.

I don’t think that render is a good indication. It just sticks the latest M concept front lights to the M5.

I believe the grille and lights won’t be as slim, and the front bumper will be way better looking.

Nose cone present? good. I expect the M models will have horizontal bars in its fascia and better implement the sensors of today’s car which give only half a grille.

Wow...this looks splendid IMHO :

In the actual car, the headlights sit above the height of the main character side line, not below it. Sounds like a small thing, but it isn’t, it’s one of the reasons the G60 looks FWD. All BMWs before about 2020 had the headlights below the character line. The render looks much better than what the real thing will due to that reason.

...although there is clearly a 3-to-4mm thick piece of plastic cladding veiling the front fenders sideline from the crest of the wheelarch sculpturing upwards into the hoods crest.

But you are certainly correct that the slightest few millimeters can make a world of difference in automotive exterior design.

I really don't think the headlight placement has anything to do with FWD proportions. It was the sloping hood giving that impression, and the FL seems to properly fix this.
