E-Class (W213) [Spyshots] 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W213)

The W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, sold from 2016 as a 2017 model. It succeeded the W212/S212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. The high-performance Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63S versions of the W213 have been available as well from 2016 (as a 2017 model), and these are the only versions with V8 engines.
LOL this is pathetic.
2016 guys, dammit..

On topic, we are about to see the launch of the best E class ever, and argueably the best looking modern one as well. And no doubt this will be leagues above any competition (together with the upcoming 5).
And personally, except a few gripes, it looks pretty sensational. I am exited to see this car finally! The press release of the top end models will be a sight to behold.

Oh look, another Bimmer fangirl trying to hijack the thread.

Oh please stop with 'another'. It's mostly MB fans attacking the 5er here in this very thread from what I have seen, which is just as sad. If it's really 'another', name and shame please! And be careful when you write my name ;) I only diss what I don't like, unrelated to ANY other car.

Bimmer fans, go to your respectable threads and worship as you please

BMW fans need not go anywhere. You go to MBworld or something if you don't like it here. I do get your point and I mostly agree, but 'BMW fans' have as much right to post here as any other fan. Just keep it respectful. Some non rose-tinted posts are what keeps a forum interesting, and makes one look at things differently. It broadens your horizon. Forums where everybody likes the same things are boring, but they are there if that's what you like ;)

With all due respect, I believe this site is called "German Car Forum"......and, if I'm not mistaken, last I checked...Mercedes-Benz and BMW are...German ;)...I could be wrong, however.

I haven't been one of those users, nor will I, nor do I want to be.

My dad wants a 2002-2004 540i, and the chap DESERVES it, and I want to give it to him. Would be mildly hypocritical.

So anybody here got their name on the waiting list for a W213 in Germany for when it arrives in dealers in March/April?

The new diesel 4 cylinder looks promising, E220d with approx. 194PS should do just fine, combined with the 9G-tronic it should be much smoother and faster than the W212. 240km/h and approx. 7.5sec from 0-100km/h will be more than enough as well as lower consumption of about 4.0ltr/100km or 103g/km.

Given MB's recent problems with 1st year models, the members here are probably well informed enough to be more patient?

Moi

E200 AMG Line in the UK. Sold my W212 in November and I had it since 2009. Even though it was a first year model, I never had any problems in 6 years of ownership except a problem with the Turbo hoses in year 3 which was fixed under warranty.

Will be placing my order on or around 18 January.

Yes I do understand your point considering the reliability problems with the latest Mercedes models in the 1st year of production, but I am sure due to excitement and the attractiveness of the new car some people will be eager to replace their W212 with one of these.

My 2013 E63 with only 19000 kms or about 11000 miles has had a few issues and the build quality is average, steering wheel alcantera is almost worn off, the drivers seat side bolster is worn from going in the car the leather has actually cracked and worn to the inside it was like this from about 1000 miles onwards, so the quality is not there. My previous car a W211 E55 with 50000miles at the time the drivers seat was still like brand new no wear at all.

Point being even a 2013 W212 has issues not just year 1 cars.

Looking at the interiorshots a few weeks ago, the steeringwheel's airbagcap isn't made of leather. Does anyone know if the wood-leather steeringwheel comes with a leather airbagcap? @Wolfgang perhaps?

Next week I'll pass the 100.000 km mark (a little over 18 months in posession). Drivers seat side bolster still in mint condition.

Haven't seen it yet, Mick. Might be reserved for the S. :)

MY S212 E400 is now 25 months old and with 60.000 km on. The seats (leather, active) are still in an excellent condition. The whole car still looks and drives as good as on day one - at least when cleaned and polished :) Only issues so far: two defective ignition coils.

It is now my third Mercedes in a row and the build quality was always very good:

W204 C220 CDI
No issues in 3 years an 70.000 km, besides one defective power window. I got it in April 2007, so one of the very first ones.

S212 E250 CDI
No issues in 4 years and 90.000 km. First model year.

W212 FL E400 4matic
Two broken ignition coils. Besides that, a wonderful car,

I guess the seats bolsters are different in the AMG as the think bolsters is what has worn out as they have the active air bladders which rub on you as they move around corners. Don't get me wrong the build quality is still good but I have noticed it is a step below than the W211. Its the little things you notice like Eg. the shock absorbers in the W210 E55 and W211 E55 where from bilstein and said made in germany on the shock tags, the shocks in my W212 E63 are from made by Monroe which is a very average shock company also it says made in spain. Anyway back on topic to the W213 E Class
