GLE [Spyshots] 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe

The Mercedes-Benz GLE, formerly Mercedes-Benz M-Class (designated with the "ML" nomenclature), is a mid-size luxury SUV produced by the German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz since 1997. In terms of size, it is slotted in between the smaller GLC and the larger GLS, the latter with which it shares platforms.

lOl, agreed, it`s all marketing hype. One name has to fit though, MLC just sounds spot on target.
Thay will call it a coupe because of the sharp roof line and the fact that it shares the same rear with the S-Coupe.

Looks like ML is going to be renamed as well. From MB passion

Can Mercedes-Benz in spring 2015 the "ML" to die? At least the model will receive a completely different name, the "ML Coupé" is differently named.

The model of "ML" is continued on all cases, only the name will change from model care. First details this morning – with us, where else? #W166 #C292

I suspect the SUV lineup is going to be be

GLA, GLA Coupe
GLC (GLK), GLC coupe
GLE (ML), GLE coupe
GLS (GL), may be GLS coupe
G, GLG (City G)

Some rumors from the link above:

GLX (new model line below the A-Class; vs. Audi Q1 / Mini Countryman)
GLX Coupé (vs. Audi Q2 / Mini Paceman)

GLA (vs. Audi Q3 / BMW X1)
GLA Coupé (vs. Q4 / X2)

GLB (city G, baby G, GLG)

GLC (ex-GLK; vs. Q5 / X3)
GLC Coupé (vs. Q6 / X4)

GLE (ex-M/ML; vs. Q7 / X5)
GLE Coupé (vs. Q8 / X6)

GLS (ex-GL; vs. Q9 / X7)
GLS Coupé (vs. Q10 / X8)

G (G remains G; no competition

So this definitely means they're going to milk this generation of ML for another 7 years.

There's still no official confirmation according to MB Passion, and it might be delayed until the successors appear? :)

Mercedes To Rename M-Class The ‘GLE’ In SUV Nameplate Shakeup: Report

Mercedes-Benz may be about to change the names of some of its most popular SUVs in an effort to harmonize the various nameplates ahead of the rollout of several all-new high-riding models. According to reports out of Germany, the transition will start with the facelifted M-Class due out later this year as a 2015 model.

According to Auto Motor und Sport, the facelifted M-Class will be renamed the GLE-Class, helping to align it with the E-Class in Mercedes’ hierarchy of models. Then, for the 2016 model year, Mercedes will launch its BMW X6 rival, which instead of being an M-Class Coupe, as currently thought, will be labeled the GLE-Class Coupe.

The next-generation GLK-Class will also be affected, with its name said to be changed to GLC-Class to align it with the C-Class. It's expected to be launched late next year, as a 2016 model. If a version with coupe-like styling is launched, expect this model to be called the GLC-Class Coupe.

There’s been no mention if the G-Class and GL-Class models will also be affected. While it’s likely the G-Class will keep its name due to its iconic status, it’s possible the GL-Class gets rebranded a GLS-Class to align it with the S-Class family. At the other end of the spectrum sits the GLA, aligned with Mercedes' A-Class.

Stay tuned for an update.
