Finally have the chance to check out the car at the showroom. First impression, the car looks a bit tall and short, it is longer than a hatch but not quite a proper size wagon. Besides the different rear end the rest of the car is pretty much the same as the WRX. While it is a nice looking car with a sharp front end, the styling isn't as refined as the Gen 4 liberty. Perhaps a different color other than the dark metallic blue will make a difference.
The interior is disappointing to look at with 3 separate screens placed around the driver. There are simply too many buttons all over the place, it is especially bad on the steering wheel. Speaking of which the spokes on the wheel is way too thick, and the paint on silver trim at the bottom spoke feels thin and extremely rough. The finishing was much better on my old Liberty. Overall quality of interior is no better than the gen 4 Liberty either. I was hoping for some improvement compare to a car which was released more than 10 year go. The seating position isn't quite right, I felt like I am still sitting on the car, even at the lowest setting.
Now here is the most important part, the rear boot space. it is definitely not as spacious as the gen 4 Liberty, no matter what Subaru says.
Given the car is largely based on the WRX chassis, I have no doubt it will be an entertaining drive, Unfortunately I don't see the value in the drive away price of $54k AUD, with the spec B version close to $59k AUD. The price is higher than what I paid for for my Liberty, and the Levorg is less spacious, less practice and less comfortable, with an interior that is no better than what I had for the past 10 years.
