Politics The end of the Trump Presidency

Well, I haven't seen it nor am I going to spend money to support it. But based on the cast of characters they have enlisted as arbiters of truth, I feel confident that I am not missing out anything worthwhile.
It's free on Prime. Based on the fact the CIA and FBI have lied about more serious matters, you'd trust them instead.

If this is the case and you're deferring to this documentary, here's a prime opportunity to set the record straight on why Trump and his supporters are justified inciting an insurrection.
I'm not, I'm just saying that this is only the second attempt at insurrection in the last 4 years and it was far less well organised, which makes it look far less like a high-level criminal conspiracy.

That's one way to look at it.

Or, he, his cohorts, and enablers have fed his followers lies after lies about fraud where there was no fraud. Accused shadowy figures of taking their country away from them. Told them that only he tells the truth. Oh, snd that they should follow him to the Capitol in a show of force. To paraphrase the Dude, "That's just, like, the facts, man."
I don't condone what they did but after what happened 4 years ago I can see why they'd believe that.

My view: any democratically elected leader answers to the people. Social media prevents or minimizes any back and forth where one can hold the decision-makers to account. I'd like to see elected leaders and government officials not use social media as a mode of communication.
Ten years ago big elections in the US and UK were won by courting Rupert Murdoch or heads of other newspaper conglomerates.

A large number of the Trump supporters who stormed the Capitol are QAnon conspiracy theory believers. They think Trump is waging a war against Satan-worshipping paedophiles in government, business and the media. Trump has described these people as "people who love our country".

Don't try to rationalise their behaviour.

There you go again with your false equivalence.
Nobody stormed Capitol building 4 years ago.
What we witnessed 4 years ago was a protest; what we witnessed last week was an insurrection; yuuuuuge bigly difference. So it will be best if you stop trying to stretch something that has no elasticity.
So here are the facts:
1. There was no 1st attempt, this is the first attempt.
2. A protest is not an insurrection. There are legal protest, there are no legal insurrection conversely there are illegal protest but there are no illegal insurrections.Get it.

Laws that social media platforms are and should be subjected to is a debate that will intensive over the coming weeks.

I think it's a debate that will carry on for decades, not least because the solution, whatever it may be, will be entangled deeply with what people perceive as their basic rights. And as you say, digital social platforms will only become more deeply linked with our day to day lives, therefore any further control or regulation is going to end up feeling like these basic rights are being messed with - and rightly or wrongly, Americans will often use Benjamin Franklin's quote about giving up freedom for security being a bad thing, which symbolises this problem very well I think.

Inciting violance is a crime and thankfully cyber bullying is verging on becoming a punishable offencd in the UK.

The biggest tension point is how these platforms should moderate and when they have a social and moral right to permanently ban an individual or a group.

These two statements are interesting. Criminalising words is literally the removal of free speech, this should be the bigger tension point than a website's TOS and policies. I'm not saying I do or don't support such moves, but the people need to realise what the difference is.... and sadly, many don't (hardly surprising when the leader of the free world deliberately misrepresents it).

I wonder how Jared and Ivanka feel about this "very special patriot" :

Question is do they have the neurons to connect the dots?
The proud boys have some of their members wearing a shirt with the characters "6MWE" on a separate protest sometime last year.
For those people that keep defending these people "6MWE" means 6 Million Wasn't Enough.
So, I doubt if Jared and Ivanka have the brain cells to see what they are cozing up to.

This censorship is a sign of how desperate the Big Tech establishment really is. I mean why would they be so desperate to shut Trump up if he already lost? Weird.

Btw, why is Nancy trying to impeach Trump again? I mean, if they are so confident that the Porsche Hater won the election so why bother with another impeachment? Strange.

All the more disturbing as Jareds' paternal grandparents are Shoah survivors and Ivanka converted to Judaism years ago (a process which is emotionally, psychologically and intellectually highly testing).

Yes, but at least there was some level of back and forth. There's an ability to either push back or challenge so the elected official would be bound to explain their stance. With twitter or social media, especially when that is the sole or primary mode of communication, that conveyance is very much one way.

LOL, not going to get Prime so I can watch Cerno lisping some conspiracy theory BS why Trump is a choir-boy and everyone is out to get him.

Based on the fact the CIA and FBI have lied about more serious matters, you'd trust them instead.

That is some what-aboutism right there.

When a person calls himself and revels in being called a dirty trickster and has a long history of duplicity like Roger Stone or you have a dolt of an attorney like Sidney Powell or that gigantic doofus like Devin Nunes as a character-witness, they would make any person or group infinitally more credible. And I don't say that because they are associated with Trump, I say that because anyone with a shred of self-respect, concern with their own credibility and reputation would best avoid trying to hitch their wagon to him. That is why any reputable law firm will not represent him and you have dum-dums like Giuliani representing him because a) Trump has well-known reputation for stiffing people on bills, and b) he's just a terrible client.

I want to give you the benefit of the doubt, but when you cite a movie like this as a way to explain why there's even an iota of justification for storming the Capitol in seditious manner, I can no longer.

Per Daddy Trump, he "loves" these "patriots."

Btw, why is Nancy trying to impeach Trump again? I mean, if they are so confident that the Porsche Hater won the election so why bother with another impeachment? Strange.

Since he won't resign the office of the presidency because he's probably to scared of what may await him on the other side or that Mike Pence either a) doesn't have enough Cabinet member votes to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove him or b) he's to cowardly to do so if he does despite him and his family being in danger during the insurrection, the only course of action to take is impeachment. It would a) shame him, though I doubt that's possible, but it would solidify his place in history of being the worst US president ,b) if convicted, not allowed to hold any office, and c) disallow him any post-presidential perks like travel expense allowance and security detail.

I'm sorry, but what is this? BLM? Antifa? Trump supporters?

It's to stop him inciting more riots and to not have more people die. Why are you even asking such a stupid question? It's not in any doubt as to why they're removed Trump's account. He's not even being censored. He's literally the President. He has a whole press department. He could make a statement and it will be reported the world over.

Jesus, I don't even know why I'm engaging in moronic discussions like this.

I'm sorry, but what is this? BLM? Antifa? Trump supporters?

And? What's your point? Nobody would defend what is going on in that video, but your attempts to draw equivalence with that and Trump just shows how stupid you are.

Didn't realize that the X5 is a branch of government.

I have another video.

Yeah. Twitter can be a bit of a propaganda megaphone rather than a dialogue. Obviously Trump isn't interested in anyone else's opinion so te platform suits him well.

So @hoffmeister_fan you're telling me that the BMW belongs to a government employee? Btw, what is going on in that video? Cyclists protesting?

I don't know what's going on because it's 30 second clip, so no context before or after said event was recorded.

But I was facetiously asking whether the X5, lovely vehicle as it may be, is a branch of the government because the obvious answer is no, it's not. Moreso than that, I was highlighting it irrelevance in drawing some sort of equivalence of inciting a siege of the Capitol and the legislative branch of the USA. Glad to help.

Political thread in a German Car Forum and the video has a German car in it. The Russian page that posted it on Instagram is puzzled of what's going on there.

Btw, that video you posted is very sad. I mean, one day these people are all like "Blue Lives Matter" and then in the other they are trying to beat a cop.
