M8 [Video reviews] BMW 8er/M8 Coupe, Cabriolet and GranCoupe (G14/G15/G16)

The BMW M8 is the high-performance version of the BMW 8 Series (G15) marketed under the BMW M sub-brand. Introduced in June 2019, the M8 was initially produced in the 2-door convertible (F91 model code) and 2-door coupe (F92 model code) body styles. A 4-door sedan (F93 model code, marketed as 'Gran Coupe') body style was added to the lineup in October 2019. The M8 is powered by the BMW S63 twin-turbocharged V8 engine shared with the BMW M5 (F90). Official website: BMW M
Curious to what this will be? There are some clues as someone who wanted the Frozen Deep Green from the M5 CS wanted to specify it on an M8. They were refused because it’s to be used additionally on another model and to maintain its exclusivity?

Secondly even though it’s on hiatus to get the XM out first to regain post-COVID euros. They are said to be still working on and refining the ideas of powertrain on the MNext saying there is far greater potential to be unleashed. Whether this is for the production of an MNext type sports car? Or another model is unknown?

Thirdly there is the CSL R concept clue in which XM and M3 Touring are shown in the background under covers.
A ltd edition anniversary present?

I read an article that stated that this was just a prototype to test out different performance components, not a new model.

Who knows but a hot M8 would be the shit.

How fast on what appears to be a wet track, the M8 may be slower than the Merc, but it's infinitely more aesthetically pleasing, and bonus! It's also faster, under 11" in the 1/4 mile every time, tremendous machines

I'd like to know what the power-to-weight ratio is because the Merc has much more horses + rotational force (a lot more!) so how did the M8er win? Who'd think a M8 Comp factory car would win a Brabus tuned Merc.

Looks wise, besides the front and rear + interior, the Merc looks better from the side on.

Watched his review and it underscore what I have said before, the M8 doesn’t suit the UK market. Too firm as s GT for bumpy UK b roads and too fast for our non-existant motorway. However I image it being s great car for Germany: Drive fast and in luxury at 180mph with little float or body roll.

I am not saying that the 8 series coupe is not SPECTACULAR with capital letters, just that they lacked that "a little more balls" to make it exactly like the concept and that it was not only a spectacular car, but one of the most beautiful coupes period.

I imagine "the grill of the concept is very big let's shrink them because social networks and all those stupid people say...) They should have restricted certain things and made it the same, it's as nice as an Aston, like a Maserati, COMPACT, MUSCLE, what a missed opportunity, from being the most desirable car they could build to being an excellent one but just one more.

In this car, beauty should have been the priority and they mortgaged it a bit and they had it!!, they did it with the concept, that's what makes me angry.
Thank God at BMW today they respect the concepts much more and they are bringing it out to almost the same in production form, without cowardice or restrictions

I think that the 8-Series was close to the concept but the 8-Series name gave the impression that it would be a super luxurious flagship like the Lexus LC. However it’s a 6-Series which a new name.

It’s not bad and as an overall package the 8-Series is a good looking GT that isn’t too bloated in appearance nor to controversial looking. IMO it’s of an alternative for 5-Series buyer than a a car for M3/M4 owners to ladder up to. IMO the F82 has a more lust worth design but the 8-Series GranCoupe in individual colours is a sight to behold.
Comically the 840, 840d and 850i reviews tend to me more positive than those of the M8.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
