New image of Anhui (?) Volkswagen ID sedan.
That front end looks kinda strange. Another car joining the split light styling trend.

This seems to be coming head-on against the new C-Class EV and the i3 NK or am I wrong?

It appears so. Although it may be somewhat larger in its dimensions. There seems to be quite of bit of new Xpeng P7 sedan in it. Xpeng and the Volkswagen Group/Anhui Volkswagen have a joint venture agreement and it is speculated that the scope of it will expand in the future.

Looks like any other Chinese car.

Which, more recently, I have found this to almost be an asset. The Germans have presented a few pretty questionable exercises in automobile design over the past few years. And hey, there's a good bit of good ol' German designcraft in these "Chinese" Volkswagens anyway. They all carry Andreas Mindt's signature. And as for Xpeng...well...the design project leader for the new Xpeng P7 sedan is a Frenchman. IMHO, there are more anonymous Chinese cars out there.

I also find it interesting that "floating roof" themes are seeing a bit of a revival.

Will this and the sedan with similar front end styling come to Europe, or will they be China only?

It currently appears to be a vehicle not meant for the EU, UK or North America. However, German automotive media outlets have been insinuating that Volkswagen AG decision makers are now contemplating the commercial viability of bringing these joint-venture vehicles to the EU and UK. Apparently, these VAG officials are very impressed.

Quite large at 5000mm L, 1954mm W and 1672 H. Both single and dual e-motor versions available. A number of trim and rim options will be offered.

Not quite as slick as the concept. But that's usually the way it always is.

Extremly bold front styling for a VW. No wonder it's tested in China and not Germany.
Really nice IMO, it impressed me from the moment I saw it in the concept. It looks like a positively fresh change at last, moving away from the classic grille that VW SUVs have had for so many years and which was getting boring.

VW customers like boring and familiar. Like toast with butter. We have eaten it thousands of times but still crave it over pancakes or fancier breakfast options.
