C-Class W205 W205 C-Class Facelift Spyshots

The Mercedes-Benz W205 is the fourth generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class which was produced by Daimler AG between 2014 and 2021. The W205 C-Class was preceded by the W204 C-Class and superseded by the W206 C-Class. The fourth-generation C-Class was available in sedan (W205), station wagon/estate (S205), coupe (C205), cabriolet (A205) and long-wheelbase sedan (V205) body styles.
Standard Halogens have also been criticized as being poor as far as visibility. I have the full multibeam LEDs on my C43 and they are awesome

Agreed. The Multibeam LED headlights on Mercs are the best in the business in my experience. Superior to Audi MATRIX and the BMW ICON LED headlights found on my own M4.

Expected to be revealed around April 2018. :)

I would say Geneva is perfect for the introduction. I'm hoping the C43 to C53 yields about 375hp. Going to be a rocket of a car. C63 will need a slight bump also.

I am looking forward to the C-Class FL as it will receive totally new more powerful engines and upgraded and improved interior.

This is what could be expected engines, let's hope it is close to this.

@Rolf What is the source of this information?
This is a theoretical engine model line up that i based on the latest engines that Mercedes have launched in S-class, E-class coupe and CLS. I have also read a few sites mentioning that the new 1.3ltr engine (co developed Mercedes and Renault) will be used in the new A-class so I thought it may be used in the upcoming C-class FL as well. The AMG 63 engine outputs I based on the engines used in the AMG GT S and GT C.

C300 - new version of M264 with 200kw/380nm
C350 - new M264 with 220kw/400nm

How about the output levels for these mainstream petrol engines? They do seem quite logical and these will be the engines that most of us will be buying into the c class anyway.

I thought that Mercedes will increase the outputs compared to the current models to make the new models very competitive against Audi and BMW equivalent models. Let's hope my estimated figures are correct :D

I heard that the c200 will now be powered by the 1.5litre of the m264 engine while c250 and above will still be using the 2 litre version.

My personal guess will be
C200 - new lower power version of M264 with 140kw 1.5 litre
C250 - new lower power version of M264 with 170kw/350nm
C300 - new version of M264 with 200kw+10kw from EQ/380nm
C350 - new M264 with 220kw+10kw from EQ/400nm(has been confirmed)

What if we told you that the Mercedes-Benz W205 C-Class just turned four years old today? That’s right. First unveiled in end-2013, the automaker’s bread and butter model is due for a refresh, and a big one at that, it seems.

Autocar reports that the facelifted C-Class may get a host of upgrades, especially in the powertrain department. As mentioned previously, the model could receive the Stuttgart marque’s latest range of four-cylinder OM654 turbodiesels, taking over from the 2.1 litre OM651 turbodiesel units that has served since 2008.

Depending on the model choice, the engine develops anywhere from 148 hp in the C 200 d, 192 hp in the C 220 d to 241 hp in the C 300 d. That’s up by 13 hp, 24 hp and 40 hp over their respective outgoing models, although these engines are not likely to make it to Malaysia at all.

More relevant to us is the new M264 petrol engine (first introduced in the E350 Coupe with 299 hp), which will kickstart propulsion duties in the new C 200 EQ Boost. According to the new report, this 2.0 litre turbo engine will replace the current M274 unit with a slight improvement in power (expect around 192 hp over today’s 184 hp), while featuring a belt-driven alternator and a 48-volt electrical system that further adds 17 hp for brief and instant electric boost.

The C 250 and C 300 will also be using the same M264 lump, although it’s unclear if the pair will get assistance from the new EQ Boost system. Either way, power will go up – expect the C 300 to go up to around 258 hp, up from 245 hp. All the aforementioned engines will be paired with either a six-speed manual or nine-speed 9G tronic automatic transmission, the latter already introduced as an update to the model in September last year.

Apparently, Mercedes-Benz is also planning for a new petrol-electric C 400 and diesel-electric C 400 d EQ Power plug-in hybrids, each with a pure electric cruising range of 50 km. The company said the new electric motor will be upgraded to pack 41 hp more than the one found in the existing C 350 e, which makes 80 hp and 340 Nm. Expect new charging systems for faster charging times as well.

As for the AMG-tuned models, the C 43is expected to soldier on with the 3.0 litre twin-turbo V6, possibly tuned to match the E 43‘s 401 hp (+34 hp) and 520 Nm output. The C 63 on the other hand, may get new twin-scroll turbos to facilitate power gains, although the exact figures elude us at the time of writing.

Other potential optional upgrades include a more sophisticated Air Body Control suspension (an upgrade over the current Airmatic system) and a Car-To-X capability for over-the-air software updates. Several driver assist systems such as remote parking pilot and Driving Assistance Package may be offered too.

Visually, the facelifted C-Class should get the usual nip and tuck revision to its head and tail lights, the former featuring a more advanced Multibeam LED headlamps like that found on the new W213 E-Class as opposed to the current LED Intelligent Light System. Expect styling tweaks to the front and rear bumpers, as well as new wheel designs.

The facelifted C-Class could very well get the GLC F-Cell’s new interior

The cabin will also get decently upgraded, beginning with the larger 10.25-inch widescreen infotainment display first seen on the GLC F-Cell. It’s should have a higher resolution than the outgoing 8.4-inch display, with the same Generation 5.5 system as the W222 S-Class facelift, with support for Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink.

Also expected in the update is the new low-profile touchpad that replaces the rotary COMAND controller, along with a sportier steering wheel with touchpad-sensitive controls. One of the most notable change would be the new 12.3-inch digital instrument display, replacing the conventional (and ageing) analogue dials of the regular C-Class.

The W205 C-Class facelift is set for its world premiere at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March. Its coupé and cabriolet siblings will debut a month later in New York. What do you think of the early details so far?

The diesel models adopt Mercedes’ latest OM654-designated engine. It develops 148bhp in the C200d, 192bhp in the C220d and 241bhp in the 300d, figures that represent increases of 13bhp, 24bhp and 40bhp over today’s models respectively.

The petrol models feature Mercedes’ new M264 engine. In the new C200 EQ Boost, it develops an additional 7bhp over the old M274 engine, taking nominal reserves up to 188bhp. Additionally, it adopts a belt-driven alternator and 48V electric architecture that adds 17bhp for brief periods of electric boosting.

The evolution of the M264 engine in the new C300 doesn’t use the hybrid functions of the C200 EQ Boost, but runs a higher state of tune with added turbo boost pressure. Power is up by 13bhp over today’s version of the C300, giving the updated model 255bhp.

Autocar can also confirm plans for new petrol-electric C400 and diesel-electric C400d EQ Power hybrid models featuring plug-in capability and a pure electric driving range of up to 31 miles. Mercedes insiders reveal the advanced new C-Class models get updated electric motors featuring a 41bhp increase on the unit used by the existing C350e at 121bhp, together with new charging systems for faster charging times.

Despite the appearance of a new turbocharged 2.9-litre in-line six-cylinder petrol in the new Mercedes-AMG E53 and CLS53 models, the facelifted C43 will retain the same turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol unit used by today’s model, albeit with a mild increase in power.

At the top of the line-up, the Mercedes-AMG C63 will also receive an updated version of the 4.0-litre V8 engine in use in the existing model, with new twin-scroll turbochargers.

The new engines will be mated to a standard six-speed manual or new nine-speed torque converter-equipped automatic gearbox – the latter of which replaces the seven- speed automatic offered on today’s C-Class.
