In keeping with the year in which BMW Motorrad was founded, each model will be limited to 1,923 units globally. In December 1922, BMW chief designer Max Friz put the first full-scale BMW motorcycle on the drawing board. At its heart was a 494 cc, 8.5 hp, air-cooled two-cylinder, four-stroke boxer engine. Phillip Island. The final round of this season’s FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) at Phillip Island, Australia, was overshadowed by a serious accident involving Eugene Laverty (IRL). The racer from the Bonovo action BMW Racing Team crashed in race two on Sunday and was hit by another rider. Laverty was initially taken to the Medical Centre. He was stable, responsive and had feeling in all extremities. He then was flown to a Melbourne hospital for further examinations. So far, a fracture in his hip was diagnosed. Mandalika. BMW Motorrad Motorsport has concluded the FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) race weekend in Mandalika in Indonesia with two top six finishes. After a difficult Saturday, Scott Redding (GBR) from the BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team claimed sixth position in both Sunday’s Superpole Race and race two. San Juan. There were plenty of ups and downs for BMW Motorrad Motorsport during the FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) race weekend in San Juan, Argentina. San Juan. BMW Motorrad Motorsport kicks off the overseas leg of the 2022 FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) in the west of Argentina this weekend (21st to 23rd October). The tenth event of the season will take place at Circuito San Juan Villicum, roughly 180 kilometres north of Mendoza. After 1,230 km of hard adventure riding and 15 special stages, set in the hills and mountains of Albania, Team South Africa emerged victorious, not once but twice – winning both the male and female team competitions. The 26-year-old Briton passed away on Thursday, succumbing to the serious injuries suffered last weekend in an accident in the British Superbike Championship at Donington Park (GBR). It was with great dismay and sadness that BMW Motorrad Motorsport received the news of Rouse’s death. Rouse was a valued member of the BMW Motorrad Motorsport family for several years. In 2020, he won the title in the British National Superstock 1000 Championship with the Crowe Performance BMW Team.
