The data appears to have been collected by taking the on-board computer figures rather than doing an actual scientific test where tanks are brimmed and the cars driven over the same route in similar weather conditions. In which case I would take this data with a huge pinch of salt. The OBC, from my experience, can be hugely inaccurate, and that's with ALL manufacturers.

I have tonnes and tonnes of real world data collected over the last ten years from many, many cars, and I keep a spreadsheet of this data. The tests were conducted as scientifically as possible. Just a fraction of the results are to be found in my "Fuel Consumption" thread that I created.
