The conditions have to be the same.
I have pointed out in the past that the new M5 might not be that much faster than the M760li
in real-world tests. Not drawing conclusions though.
(On a side note, it would be interesting to see which one of these cars has the greater down-force advantage at higher speeds.
The front air dam shape on the E63 seems to channel air-flow with greater down force than the M5 just from the looks of it alone. The rear wing spoiler special shape "ears" appears to place more force over the rear wheels compared to the ordinary one on the M5.) Anyway great video.

The comparison has just got hotter between these cars and this video firmly shows that the M5 is not faster than the E63 S in identical conditions as many people have thought. Even with a worst start the AMG still beat the M over a 400m sprint. Both cars are very close though in performance terms just fractions separating them. The E63 S however does look and sound the more dramatic car when accelerating off the line and then at full throttle.

I think this video is not conclusive but it gives some information, Carwow are famous with their unreasonable drag races.
Regardless, I though since the M5 lunch that the E63s should have been the faster car on a straight line, the torque advantage is not small. As for the braking and track performance, I'm more to believe that the M5 should have the upper hand due to weight advantage.
Lastly, I think both models are closer than before, MB did create job with the E even thought it was lunched more than a year earlier than the M5.
