Ooh dear even Audi is adding in split lights, @Oida are you sure this is not the next BMW i5? Even the door handles are looking BMWish.

@klier what you think of the bonnet shut line?
Like I said... its foglights/DRLs, NOT split headlights.

Just for a silly little giggle...

It actually looks kind of nice.
That would be a successful break from the current "soft" A8, but it will need to excel in many other ways to line up with the competition.

Swirlyfoil is really the quite effective camouflage.

What I'm pondering is:

Will the voluptuous tapering and bulging of the flanks towards the rear wheelarches and haunches, seen on the concept cars, be retained on the actually production versions ? Is it simply that the swirlfoil is veiling this on the production-bodied test mules ? Or has the girth actually been trimmed (which would be a bummer, man.)?

Auto Motor und Sport is reiterating that "98%" figure. The bodies of the concept cars (Sportback as well as Avant) are allegedly identical to those that we will be seeing on the serial production examples. Alterations will, however, will appear on elements such as aprons, rear diffusor and lighting units, front and rear. The fascia shield (grill) will be somewhat shallower as will the intake/projector cavity. Door handles (or flush opening cavities) will be added. Conventional rearview mirrors will be standard, cameras optional. Exterior dimension specs of the concept cars will reportedly remain unchanged (4960-70mm L, 1960-65mm W, 1440-45mm H). Rim sizes will range from 19" to 21", with a 22" option quite possible.

...looking a bit more closely:

I think that AMuS may be a wee-bit inaccurate regarding "identical" concept/serial production bodies.

For one, the vertical bonnet shutlines on the mules appear to overlap the sculpture crests rather than lie millimeters from them. The rear lighting unit cavities on the Sportback mule appear to be more similar to those on the Avant concept, hence extending less into the rear sheetmetal. Perhaps "98%" is a bit of a stretch after all. "90-to-95%" may be more accurate. A bit of a shame, that...

Swirlyfoil and camocladding can be deceiving...

...yet still, not particularly impressed at this stage.

Hopefully, some magic will be revealed in the details. Rims and colours could make a world of difference as well.

Alas, the prototypes are looking like the chubby fellas at the gym.

Looks like a Tesla at the rear or maybe that’s just cladding ….does look like split headlights are the next daytime running lights.

For what it's worth...

Kolesa.RU renderings are often relatively accurate...so...maybe not so bad after all.

No A6 TDI anymore? So Audi is really gonna flip the bird to their loyal customers and go fully electric?

That's... Bold I guess.

It would be amusing indeed if BMW and Audi both adopt near identical split headlight solutions. Talk about lack of design leadership.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
