Maybach 62/62S Maybach 62 S Landaulet Concept

The Maybach 57 (chassis code W240) and 62 (chassis code V240) were the first automobile models of the Maybach brand since its revival by DaimlerChrysler AG (now Mercedes-Benz Group AG). They are derived from the Mercedes-Benz Maybach concept car presented at the 1997 Tokyo Motor Show. The concept car was based on the Mercedes-Benz W140 S-Class sedan platform, as were the production models. The models ceased production in February 2013 due to continued financial losses for the brand, with sales at one-fifth the level of the profitable Rolls-Royce models.
You.;)

Look here: Brooklands over any MM any day.

:t-cheers:

Both cars have a completely different philosophy! The Brooklands is for those people, who like to drive there car. It is for the active driver, who loves to drive an unique car with a lot of power and comfort. The Maybach is also very unique and powerful! But the concept is different. You are passenger and not driver - you will have a chauffeur, because you want to use all these nice gadgets and toys, like TV, DVD, massaging seats etc...
So, normally, you need both cars in your garage! The Brooklands for the weekend and the MM over the week, when you travel from meeting to meeting. :t-cheers:

Vabboud, I disagree.
You see, in fact I agree with you concerning the regular MM: all about technology and gadgets, but lack of soul, emotions. Their strength is the butons, screens and functions, but ot looks cold, unemotionnal.

However, the folding roof changes the whole philosophy of the MM. Before it was the gadgets and technology, yes. But for the Landaulet, the point is emotion, feeling, open sky, pleasure... Suddenly the gadgets are not the mainpoint, this is the roof that makes the car now. And that gives it emotion, soul, because you buy it to feel it, to feel the sky and the sun and the wind and not any more because it has all the technology.

This roof changes the whole car. And it makes me want it, whereas the regular MM let me cold.

Damn - Talk about your quickly exploding threads!

I think the Maybach Landulet is an excellent move.
1 - It focuses lots of attention on the Maybach 62 for a very cheap price.
2 - It's something that's completely unique, not only in its segment, but in the entire automotive pantheon. This is litterally the revival of a defunct automotive genre.
3 - Did I mention cheap? Maybach is getting press attention for pennies on the dollar with this thing. And I'm sure all 20 examples will be spoken for by the time the show is over - possibly covering the costs of developing this thing.

I think this is one heck of a cool car. My sentiments are similar to coolaroul's. The Landulet paints the Maybach 62 in an entirely new light. Suddenly I want one. Just the thought of stretching out in that ridiculous robotic chair while the roof opens up to reveal a beautiful summer sky gives me goosebumps. Not only that - but you can do it all in relative privacy.

Don't get too much pissed, Artist...

I know what you've said, but i don't know based on what... On pics only? 'Cause sure you didn't sit in it to claim that's a fact. Sure it looks comfortable and nice, but i'm not sure if it's the finest place.

Glad to hear that.:eusa_clap

:t-cheers:

yeah based on pics..what else can we base our opinions on when it comes to million euro cars? you tell me my friend?
still i ask you..if you can show me a Picture of a rear seat looking like a better place than that.. ile say you where right claiming i was BSing...

But is it a FACT like you've said? Gimme a break, will you?

And no, i won't show you any pics 'cause i'm not interested, i don't like to be driven, i like to drive. Hence Brooklands for me.:t-drive:

:t-cheers:

Looks like the guys over there in CAR doesn't really like it.

Oh dear…
Don’t worry, it’s still just a concept so it may never happen. Actually it will. This is the Maybach Landaulet study, due to be unveiled in Dubai later this month, and it’ll go into production at the start of 2008. The price? A fair way over the £345,687 you'll currently pay for a 62S.

It’s basically a convertible 62S, but the roof is definitely an afterthought. The passengers have to request the chauffeur to close it, and the retracted roof has to be manually covered. At least it closes in a quite spritely 16 seconds.

Manually covered for the retracted roof. Must be a pain for the chauffeur.

Haha! What? :t-crazy2:

:t-cheers:

I think after the soft top has automatically retracted behind the rear seats, someone need to cover it up so it will look like the strange white lump at the back of the car, and you have to remove the cover again before raising the roof. It is not a very elegant way to open and close the roof, but the owners got slaves to do that for them.

It's not like it really matters. You'd only use a car like this on beautiful summer days anyway.

haha.. well in that case you where wrong calling my quote BS..

I think the biggest problem with this car is that it will only sell 20 pieces and after the initial publicity most people will soon forget about it.

Trouble is, the rich guys still want the longest hood and the biggest grille...

So they don't sell as much as the Roller...

No offense, coolraoul but that has to be the funniest excuse I've heard for why Maybach isn't selling near as good as Rolls.

Re: Revealed: Maybach 62 Landaulet

wow something is very wierd with this car..
it feels very speciall unique..
it might not be the greatest looking car..
it might not be the resulution to MM´s problems..
but belive me.. that back seat is probably the finest place you can be in any car on this planet..
and thats a fact..

Hmmm, I might even agree with you there. Sitting there in the back on a sunny day must be absolute heaven!

For the rest though, it's absolutely terrible. I think I'd rather have the RR drophead, and drive it myself.

Re: Revealed: Maybach 62 Landaulet

^thank you for agreeing..

PS
Tycoon until proven otherwise to me its not BS..im sorry

Why would i prove you anything, 'cause i already know the result; whatever i show that i really like more than this Maybach, you'll disagree. So, it is not a fact, but your opinion with which i disagree.

:t-cheers:

try me.. its not about liking..its about traveling in comfort and style..
and dont tell me you do that looking out of a quarter window..from the rear of brooklands..:D

jesus artist, get over it. Some like the bentley more than the MM. It's personal. Honestly, I don't feel much fondness for this vulgar semy home-made roofjob myself. But if you like it, hey be my guest and sell everything you have and buy the what I believe to be the cabrio you want the least to be seen in with open top in the world.

^OMG did you just start reading this thread from here?
i dont really like this car..i would never buy it
its unique though..and the only thing im stating is that..the rear seat is the best place to travel in the world of cars.. and i state that as a fact..
is that really so wrong? you tell me..

PS
once again your right tycoon.. very diffrent cars.. Bentley for drivers..thats why i like it more:D

best place? it's drafty as hell :D
seriously; other cars like a bentley or a rolls will offer you the same comfort and luxury
