From the BMW is better and Lexus in November, up from 29,050 units sold, while Audi last month in the United States found 17,118 buyers.

I really don't understand the debate over sales between manufacturers. Without knowing how much the sales were discounted by it's meaningless!!

Well, all S-Klasse are grouped. So that includes Maybach,Coupe,Cabrio and AMG.
If we split standard S-Klasse against the 7er which is the only model available you can see that in S-Klasse sales the standard car takes the highest percentage factor against the Maybach,AMG's,Coupe and Cabrio. Therefore 1,475 indicates that the standard car did not match the 1,233 units of the only 7er model which the US sells only the Li model.

But that assumes that people buying the Maybach, coupe and cabrio wouldn't have bought the sedan had the other body styles not been available, which is clearly not true. And why shouldn't the Maybach and the AMG S-Class be included?

MB are cannibalising their own sales to some degree by offering greater choice, and you're using that to try and suggest the 7 Series outsells the S-Class.

More excuses. The S-Class OUTSELLS the 7-Series, PERIOD. It isn't Mercedes' fault that all BMW can sell at this level is boring sedans. They're called "S-Class" and "7-Series" for a reason, because they contain more than one model. Why are you trying to take out the AMG versions of the S-Class? Provide the data showing the sales breakout of the S-Class sedan models vs the coupe/cabrio/maybach models.

So, when you look at sales figures for some other classes, how do you count, for example C class vs 3 series. Do you count 4 series in 3 series sales numbers? If so, you can say that C class is total disaster compare to 3/4 series...

Why do Mercedes-Benz not make that information available? But group everything together?
The same thing is happening in Germany too. The S-Klasse is being outsold by the 7er when you take away the additional models.

I might be more inclined to accept that if it was evidenced by sales figures of 242+ for the other variants... but I don't see this data published anywhere? I'd genuinely love to see it, all I've seen is occasional selected statements from MB, which no doubt are spun to support whatever headline they want to make.

I'd also have to agree, why exclude the AMG models? Maybach perhaps... and obviously the two door models, but why the AMG? Do BMW include the B7 in their numbers, or is that handled separately by Alpina in the US?

Sorry to call you out on this Scott, but numbers are numbers and I like to see 'em all... though I'm on my phone with no Wi-Fi at the moment so research is tedious.

I have the same question for BMW? up to 2013 the quarterlies contained numbers by bodystyle, they no longer do... maybe Munich didn't like my graphs on the other site :D ;D

So in other words you have nothing to back up your insinuation? As always. Reaching for something to put BMW on top, when there isn't anything.

Again, it is called the "S-CLASS". I'm really not sure why that is so hard to grasp. It consists of various models and body styles, all related. Just because BMW felt the need to call the 3-Series coupe a 4-Series doesn't mean Mercedes needs to call the S Coupe a CL again. This logic (excuse making) is just ridiculous man.

Nice deflection, but we weren't talking about the C vs the 3/4 Series. No I count the numbers the way the auto manufactures present them.
Yes the 3/4 together outsell the C-Class, but only BMW la-la-land is the C-Class a total disaster. That is BMW-speak BS.

Tell me do I get to use the excuse about MB not having any many body styles as the 3/4 Series? Not that I would, but does it go both ways or do only BMW apologist get to make up the excuses as they go along?
