Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

Rrrrright, that’s exactly the most important thing of this car, and I guess 97% of all customers will buy it only because of that,

SCNR. 🍻
Thomas of Autogefuel will be happy to hear this as he is always prefering animal free cars. I cant wait to see the different seat and trim options, I hope Mercedes will load the configurator soon.

He didn’t even mentioned the Nappa Leather, I like him but he’s unfortunately a Vegan fanatic, who is very missionary.
I have nothing against Vegans, as long as they respect my food choices ( they can still sit with me at the same table and eat their veggie burger, I am fine with that).

But If someone wants to forbid my food, I am getting very angry.

For me the biggest problem with the general Mercedes design is that they don’t change anything except graphics and some minor details. Heck, they’ve been using the same bumper design for more than 10 years now. Both front and rear.
While this new face on the GLC is an evolution of sorts, the iX3 is a revolutionary design for the BMW. That’s why the GLC lacks excitement, because if you cover the grille and the taillights, it could be any other Mercedes SUV, while the iX3 is undoubtedly a Neue Klasse.
From some angles it still looks like an egg, which should not be the case for the EQ models at this point.

We can clearly see how upright and more chiseled the iX3 looks compared to the GLC.

Still, design is subjective, but I would choose the iX3 over the GLC everyday.
Not as much as a critique - because I do like the iX3 too - but based on the same argument, if I - subjectively - cover the new lights and grill, and the taillights, it could be a longer X1 of the current generation.

After reviewing all the pics and videos, it looks a lot better than the initial shots. The grille could have been executed better at the bottom, but I think they didn't want the license plate to actually cover the grille. The interior is the showpiece. If that grille were a little smaller it would be perfect to me. Overall I think they have a hit. If the price and range hit the right spot, it should do far better than the EQC and EQE ever could.

An inoffensive, generally pleasant M-B design department exercise. And a vehicle intended for a large relatively diverse volume market should not offend. And as for the radiator shield: Most quickly got used to the Audi "Singleframe" quickly following it's presentation on the C6 A6 in 2004. This will probably be no different.

Is this real? If so this is going to be a disaster looks wise IMO.

o_O

Weird.

M-B's IAA Mobility presentations anticlimactic...so far. My eyes and attention wander increasingly towards the BMW and VAG threads. As well as some selected non-German manufacturers.

The Cayenne is here but not properly launched as it’s still wrapped in order to Show their ground based charger.

So the Cabrio, regular G and little G. It looks really tiny. Hopefully it's a real off road vehicle like the original. So many upcoming models it's getting hard to keep track of them. The G63 Cabriolet is going to be the one to have for everyone with $$$$.

Whats the little G going to be called? GE? GA?
Also they really missed an opportunity to show the cabrio even in concept form would’ve created a buzz especially since the GLC has had mixed reception.

Wouldn't it be something if they called it "GL" lol.

Aside from the grille treatment and the Mitsubishi logo lighting it looks like it could already be a generation or two old... but it looks fine to me, I don't find it ugly. Mercedes interiors aren't my cup of tea, but it's probably more inviting than the stark sparsity of the iX3 - and it's steering wheel is nearly round, so full marks for that.
It is mind-boggling to me that nobody in the Design department actually realised they look like little Mitsubishi logos.
