Mercedes Vision Iconic

I love the interior, it needs to bring elements into production to make the upper class Mercedes models look more expensive and bespoke.

I love the lines and curves of this thing. That bonnet is beautiful.
Just make this. You can make the proportions a bit more normal, but just make it. In coupe and sedan form. Electric and ICE.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen comes to mind.

That grille though.....bring that back like yesterday to the mainstream models. I have some serious concerns for the license plate though....that would look ridiculous in the middle of this grille (and wouldn't work with the LED features).

W224. Hopefully. Don’t mess up the W223 trying to fit a grille to it that it wasn’t designed for. Good design doesn’t need a dramatic facelift. The W223 is a pretty car in need of quality upgrades and an ever so slight tweak of the exterior.

It’s fairly obvious the W223 facelift isn’t getting this grill. We’ve had spy pics for ages now and it’s too far along for an emergency facelift.

The W224 design freeze already happened so let’s see if it has this grille.

What is "forward thinking"?

The EQ cars were "forward thinking", but ugly as hell.

Example of a successful "forward thinking" automobile: the 1955 Citröen ID/DS. The 1975 Citröen CX is another automobile that comes to mind. The original BMC Minis and 1100's, perhaps ? Or the 1972 Alfasud ? The C3 Audi 100 ? The 1975 Rover SD1 ? The 1966 Oldsmobile Tornado ? Less commercially successful but recognized automotive design icons: the 1967 NSU Ro80, the Cords of the late 1930s, the 1948 Tucker...

But yes, "forward thinking" has its cruxes. Your MB EQ sedan example is certainly legitimate IMHO.
The Vision NK was very Neo-retro, but it looks quite good.

While I think that the spirit of the original 1962 BMW "Neue Klasse" 4 doors and the 1600/2 2 door has been, at least partially, recaptured, I personally would not perceive the Vision NK as being "neo-retro".

They changed up the GLC to have this grille, and the W224 definitely is not too late even if the design was already 'frozen'
If Mercedes don't put this grill design on the W224 S-class, then they honestly don't have any design direction and are clueless. This is what the S-class needs to make a big statement and make it look like a boss again.

Someone has already gotten started with what a W224 based on the Vison Iconic could look like:

A couple of these illustrations (second and eigth images) are very nice. And almost all of them are visually more attractive than the actual Vision Iconic concept IMHO.

Yep-my personal favorite illustration yet.
