Whilst the W222 is center of attention right now and going forward will be even more so as we await the official unvailing, the LS is light years, two generations behind. :blackeye:

Can't wait for Lexus answer. Next LS could blow the S Class out of the water. But so can the next 7 Series. But right now S Class by far is ahead.

^haha there is a lot of wishful thinking..ain't no body blown any S class out of any water for the last century or so..

Aint happenin now either:D

The LS hasn't done anything to the S-Class since the first LS came out and caught the already 10 year old 420SEL off guard.

Funny TV in the back (so '80s) :D Also, that car is too soft (3:18)

The car is just outdated and surpassed by all of its European competitors. I can't believe Lexus sat this round out, but they did. Must be a hell of a re-design coming in 2-3 years.

I can only see this car selling as a used buy, which is a steal considering depreciation.

Anyway, this one annoying thing about too soft suspension has carried over from the pre-FL LS, looks like they haven't learnt! Ironically, looks like the best set-up for comfort + not being too queazy seems to be the F-sport. The LS hasn't yet got the message that comfort doesn't have to mean soft.

Original 1990 Lexus LS comparo

The glass demo on the engine was exceptionally impressive. I had seen a similar demo on the LFA recently where the glass was placed on the engine and the engine revved up to 9500 rpm and the glass was completely still

CR Demonstrates Pedestrian Detection and Self-Braking System Capabilities of Lexus LS

Driver’s reticence towards entrusting their safety to a bunch of questionably reliable sensors is understandable. It is part of what keeps those who are developing the self-braking tech on their toes, beavering away night after night to make it reliable.one million cars equipped with a similar setup.

Yes, the Lexus LS you see in the footage does stop in due time at under 25 mph time repeatedly without hitting the dummy, but once the speed is increased, so too is the chance that the system may only mitigate and not completely avoid the unwanted contact.

I had the chance to try out one such setup in the BMW X5 that we tested. It intervened twice while in traffic, though the intervention was kind-of uncertain – a quick but strong (automatic) dab of the brakes accompanied by an audible warning. Neither of the situations called for it and the system seemed a bit paranoid; one involved a bicyclist while the other a car that had cut me off.
