LS [Official] 2013 Lexus LS

The LS is really beautiful. Maybe the front could be improved, but it is no worse than the A8. This is IMO the best facelift ever. It did alot to the car.

Not sure why Lexus has a lot of haters on here =D

Acura is hardly considered luxury anymore. Slightly upscale/athletic yes, but definitely no longer luxurious. I don't get LS hate either. The spindle is a bit over pronounced but the car itself is not bad.

The main reason why it must not be that criticized is beacause the A8 single frame, the 7 Series kidneys and the S Class grill are also very huge.

Performance-Oriented 2013 LS 460 F Sport Won't Be Most Expensive LS, Lexus Says

Just the Facts:
  • With the revised and restyled 2013 Lexus LS lineup launching in November, the brand's chief U.S. sales exec says the new-for-'13 performance-oriented variant, the LS 460 F Sport won't be priced at the top of the seven-model LS range.
  • The LS 460 F Sport's modifications are focused on enhanced braking and steering response, although all 2013 LS models enjoy a slight bump in horsepower.
  • Lexus says 3,000 parts for the refreshed 2013 LS 460 are new.

BIRMINGHAM, Michigan — The revised 2013 Lexus LS 460 flagship is set for U.S. launch in just about a month — and those interested in the first-ever F Sport model for the Lexus sedan will find encouragement in the fact that, in a rare occurrence, a performance-centric model won't put the biggest dent in your bank account.

At a media preview for the refreshed 2013 LS 460 lineup here near Detroit, Tim Morrison, Lexus vice president for sales and dealer development, assured reporters that although pricing has yet to be finalized, the LS 460 F Sport won't be the line's costliest model.

Morrison's answer is a bit of a dodge, though: The 2013 LS 460 model range continues with a hybrid variant, the LS 600h L, which always has been emphatically more expensive than the rest of the LS 460 lineup. For 2012, the LS 460 started at $68,505 (including destination) and the most expensive gasoline-engine LS was the long-wheelbase, all-wheel drive LS 460 L AWD at $76,355 — while the hybrid LS 600h L was quite a distance away at $113,625.

If pricing for the 2013 lineup follows the 2012 format, it's likely the new LS 460 F Sport, available in rear-wheel-drive and AWD variants — will be priced at the top of the conventionally propelled LS lineup but less than the hybrid. So at least technically, the 2013 Lexus LS 460 F Sport won't be the most expensive model in the line.

Although the industry will consider the 2013 LS a "refresh," Morrison said that more than 3,000 of the 6,000 total parts (not counting fiddly stuff like nuts and bolts) are new. The new LS 460 F Sport has the same 386-horsepower/367 pound-feet 4.6-liter dual-cam V8 as all the other gasoline-only LS models (up 6 hp over 2012), but don't go for the AWD version if you want maximum thrust. Because of driveline-incurred exhaust restrictions, the AWD models give up 26 horses and 20 lb-ft. Morrison said Lexus is projecting the F Sport to account for about 10 percent of 2013 LS sales.

Edmunds says: For once, the enthusiast-oriented model isn't the most expensive in the lineup. But considering the enormous price chasm between Lexus' conventionally powered LSs and the LS hybrid, that's semantics; the F Sport is likely to be the costliest non-hybrid in the 2013 Lexus LS range.

One Eastern-derived brand I don not hate for sure;) That said "The Pursuit of Perfection" certainly does not apply to the new LS, boring car that could face REAL competition for the Korean's take on the segment (K9) and I do HATE them!

Come on Toyota!

I think Lexus is on the right path. While I would liked to have seen a brand-spanking new LS, this update (emphasis on the word "update") is a step in the right direction. If it were my money, I would not buy it but I'd probably look at it. I like the design, inside and out, as it's distinctly Japanese and their reliability and approach to customer care cannot be denied. But I'd want a little more involvement in my drive. Also their interior switchgear needs further distinction from "lesser" Toyotas.

I'm a pretty big Lexus fan - for those who remember back in the GermanCarForum days... but I am actually less convinced by this sport version of the LS. I agree with Marcus. Looks great in some shots but looks much less convicing in other photos. Guesss I have to see it in person but until then, I'd be more than happy with the standard version.

I think it is quite easy to differenciate which are the pics in which it looks nice. The front looks fine, but the rest of the car is almost 7 years old. You can notice it no matter how many cosmetic changes they add.

This car will look no different then the bland dated old LS from any angle other than the front. No revelations to be had here. Truly a case of next-level accounting running that business.

They're either going to stun the market/world with an all new car in 18-24 months or they've just handed this segment over to the Germans. The A8, 7er and the next S-Class are going to run it off the road.

You should love this car. No lines and the design is simple. This car is perfect for you! When it's time to give up that E-class, you should strongly consider this. I bet you would complain at least 400% less than you do now.

Make that change K-A and you will never have to worry about lines again. Doesn't it sound exciting?

You're mistaken. I love good lines and exciting elements. I just hate misplaced and desperate eye-sore lines that don't compliment a design but instead distract from it, like new M-B's.

^That is exactly why Lexus is the car for you! You don't have to worry about any type of line. Mercedes will continue to use lines in probably all directions. Since it upsets you so bad, I would just concern myself with Audi and Lexus if I were you. That way you don't have to be disappointed with ever Mercedes model. You really should head over to the Lexus dealership and get a hands on experience.

This new LS is the perfect choice for you!

You don't seem to grasp the concept. Lexus = drab, boring, uninspired. I've driven plenty of Lexus' and my Mom has one.... I'd rather sit on a Dentists chair than own one. Mercedes = Desperate to convey "coolness" via unintelligent lines

Plenty of automakers are using lines very well, as a complimentary effect to the big picture: The core design of the profile, instead of drawing lines to counterproductively distract from it.
