Giulia [Official] Alfa Romeo Giulia

The Alfa Romeo Giulia is a compact executive car produced by Alfa Romeo. Known internally as the Type 952, it was unveiled in June 2015, with market launch scheduled for February 2016, and it is the first saloon offered by Alfa Romeo after the production of the 159 ended in 2011.
Gentlemen,
I would imagine that by next summer ( 2017), the base Giulia will be on sale across North America. If FCA can sell it for $38K ( just standard feature) , I think they will have a winner. What do you think?

Talk is it'll be here first quarter 2017. That was echoed by a dealer I visited about 6 weeks ago.

I hope FCA don't mess this up...

.. but still...

I'm not a fan of the styling.

I will grow on you.

You have to let it settle down for a couple of months. I'm sure the first 3, 4 months they will ask for MSRP. Remember, this car is completely new, so no reliability history here. The only thing to sell is a great price. By the way, the new BMW 3er is only 6 months after that.2017 is going to be an exciting year.

BMW 3 Series 6 months later? Isn't 3 Series on 7 year schedule? That puts start of European sales late Q1 2019 with US sales some half a year later.

Just my guess, The new 3er will debut around the time the W205 gets updated.

Put it in this way. BMW 5 Series just debuted. It will not be on sale in Europe till February next year with US usually some 6+ months later. New X3 will come before 3 Series. So it puts start of European sales o next gen Series 3 earliest at late 2018, most likely early 2019 with US coming late that year. And usually M models come much later because they are almost unrelated to base models.

But this early coming of Series 3 is floating around like other false story about CFRP in 5 Series body construction. And guess what? There is no CFRP for 5 Series but it will be present in next gen X5.

Oh, O.K , you may be right. The current Series 3 was debut mid 2012 in the U.S. So the next gen would be mid 2018 as 2019 model.

While the Quadrifoglio features the halo engine and is the track star, FCA expects the 2.0L, codenamed GME T4 for Global Medium Engine, will be the engine of choice for up to 90% of buyers. The Giulia application represents the first 200,000 units of what will become a family of engines, Bob Lee, FCA’s global powertrain coordinator, tells WardsAuto. The 2.0L is a nominee for 2017 Wards 10 Best Engines honors.

The 2.0L MultiAir engine features an intercooled, twin-scroll turbo and central-direct gas injection, designed for responsiveness via a 2-into-1 integrated manifold that channels exhaust-gas pulses from pairs of cylinders into the turbo.

The engine produces 280 hp and 306 lb.-ft. (415 Nm) of torque from a 309-lb. (140.6-kg) unit. Alfa says that gives the engine class-leading output at 140 hp/L, with its closest competitors at 126 hp/L in the Audi A4 and 124 hp/L in the BMW 330i. The net effect is a segment-topping 0-60 mph (97 km/h) time of 5.1 seconds.

Well, at least is more genuine than that extreme Mercedes fanboy under the BMW3GT name....

You are so right, I absolutely DISLIKE this guy. I mean seriously we have this guy hiding behind the BMW name and being the MB-fanboi-numero-uno and a guy that hides behind a german family-owned barbershop company that ALWAYS feels attacked when people don't share his view.

Edit: I love you all.

From Top Gear:
Alfa Romeo Giulia review: 4cyl saloon tested in the States

They are mentioning electrical turbo for US Veloce:
The US gets a 276bhp version of the turbocharged in-line four for its base models. That motor will be fitted in the Veloce versions in Europe. UK base models will make do with a 197bhp unit. Just to confuse things even more, when the Veloce appears in the US, it will be powered by yet another version of the engine, a 345bhp, 48V unit with an electric turbocharger.
