Giulia [Official] Alfa Romeo Giulia

The Alfa Romeo Giulia is a compact executive car produced by Alfa Romeo. Known internally as the Type 952, it was unveiled in June 2015, with market launch scheduled for February 2016, and it is the first saloon offered by Alfa Romeo after the production of the 159 ended in 2011.

I wonder how people are actually wasting their money subscribing to MT OnDemand.....:D They end up uploading the full review to YouTube 2-3 weeks later anyways

As technologically competent as the Giulia may (or may not) be, a first-hand experience this past weekend (mind you, with the base Giulia) left me realizing how ordinary this automobile is. The interior is quite acceptable. Otherwise, it reminds me of something that could have very well been presented to the market 10+ years ago.

Giulia must be very heavy to only get a 0.4 advantage to the BMW, who is a little underpowered in this test.
Maybe the tires are the problem.

While I agree it's not worth paying for, I don't think they upload everything to YouTube. The one teaser they did with the E39 M5 never made it to YouTube.

Speaking of the Giulia, I need to stop by the dealer to see it.

why do you think that Randy Pobst had to use the D selection on Giulia instead of the manual shifting? the M3 was in manual setting while Giulia was in Drive (Auto). Why to renounce for a serious pilot as Randy to downshift when you need or want?this choice was a real advantage for Giulia or what?

Had to look it up. The Alfa has Pirelli P Zero Corsa specifically designed for him. The M3 has Michelin’s Pilot Super Sport. What tires should the BMW use to be matched?

There's a P Zero Corsa variant you can put on the M3. Honestly I don't really care either way as it's a manufacturer choice.

The fact is the Alfa's tire has a treadwear rating of 60, while the BMW tire is 300. That should tell you everything about what the Corsa's are doing for the Giulia.

So is possible than the Alfa is just a lot of hype and the BMW with same tires, would put better lap times?

I suspect that's the case. There were scans posted earlier on where the Alfa was slower than the M2 and C63s on track. I believe it didn't have the corsa tyres on. Take nothing away from the Alfa though it's a great car and those who've driven it love it.
