You can't go wrong with a 3er. Unless you have 3 kids or something and need the extra space, a 320d is simply the perfect car.

This looks otherwise accurate but it doesn’t make sense to me that the grille is unchanged from the pre-lci model. I mean, they’ve gone through the trouble of redesigning the headlights which is the expensive bit with all the type approvals, but left the grille as-is even though that would be the cheapest part to change

As already observed, the new inverted DRLs look like it has the upper whites of the eyes exposed, which is a typical feature of power-seeking psychopaths

They were redesigning the graphics either way, as they do with near every facelift. They just took away the cut-out in the lower part, for the rest the lights are identical.
Doesn't sound expensive at all. I'm not saying they're not changing the grille too, because that too is cheap.

This reminds me of the E92/93 face lifts.. change for the sake of change
headlights are integrated units. They changed at least the DLR parts from “eye bags” to “eye brows”, which means the headlight unit needs to go through EU type approval again. I remember Sergio Marchionne saying once that changing the headlights of the Alfa 4C from the spider-like LED’s (in the coupe) to a fully integrated unit (in the spyder) cost them 4 million euros.

The investment was going to happen either way, because changing the light graphics usually is one of the highlights of a BMW facelift. A new grille will need to go through approvals as well. Probably even crash tests.
