X3/X4 [Official] BMW X3 (G01)

The BMW X3 is an SUV manufactured by BMW since 2003, based on the BMW 3 Series platform. Now in its fourth generation, BMW markets the car as a Sports Activity Vehicle, the company's proprietary descriptor for its X-line luxury vehicles. The BMW X4 is a compact luxury crossover SUV manufactured by BMW since 2014. The X4 is widely considered as a "coupé" version of the X3, trading its practicality with a sloping rear roof which offers a sportier styling. BMW has indicated 2025 will be the X4's final model year.
The GLC is still the best looker in segment.Don't like the front, espcially those headlights design, other than that,it's a great improvement.

The SQ5's isn't as competitive as it could have been. It's both slower and more expensive than the GLC43. Surely Audi will give the 2019 MY a power bump or price adjustment?

As for the X3 it will likely be the driver's choice after the Macan which is critically acclaimed but is considerably more expensive than the rivals. It's in a league of its own.

Whether or not the X3 will beat the Q5 in sales depend on the ride quality. Because of run-flats it rides slightly firm and for many customers who don't corner hard, a comfortable and easy car wins over a sporty but firm one. The Q5 is popular and well liked - especially amongst families.

Even with adaptive dampers, the X3 still rides firmer than rivals. The GLC might not be as refined as the Q5 or sporty as the X3 but it's a very competent SUV and the most stylish one out of the bunch.

It's not long before we can play around with the car in a configurator.

I wonder if BMW is going to offer air suspension. The Macan, GLC and Q5 all offer it. Somehow I doubt it though.

Much better than the previous generation. The 3D rear lights seem to be a new design feature. I just wish they would be slimmer and not so bloated. Another thing I observed (also on the new 5er) , even the big/wide wheels of the M pack do not fill the wheel wells very well. With standard wheels, this will probably look even worse. This can at least be cured by some spacers.

True. BMW used to be masters of amazing turbine looking wheels that filled out the wheel wells. Not anymore. The ones shown here on the M variant just don't butch the car up enough. At least not in the photos.

The SQ5 has some fantastic looking wheel options that really beef up vehicle.

WE WANT MORE INTERIOR PHOTOS!!!!

It's a big improvement on the current model and finally looks as good as the X5 and X1. I am happy that BMW have decided not to join the lights to the kidney grill like other models. The front end in 3 quarter view reminds me a lot of the previous X5, even the profile also which is not a bad thing as the previous X5 in my opinion is the best looking X model ever produced. The front and back maybe not so cutting edge or exciting as one could have hoped to make the X3 stand out more but it still looks attractive in M-sport guise. Front nostrils seem OTT in a way but are much better than the ugly ones on the X4 M versions. Interior is a huge improvement I am glad they stepped up a notch here to give it a similar look to the 5 and 7 series and make it competitive to the Q5 and GLC. Those new seats look fantastic front and back, I like the pattern used on the leather.

One day on and I still like it a lot. Waiting for pics of the other models still for final judgement.
I would buy this over any of the other cars in the class:
- Macan is too small and too expensive; styling starting to date a little
- Q5 mainly equipped with DCTs; a no-no for me in a multi-purpose vehicle (read dirt roads/sandy tracks)
- GLC gorgeous to look at from the outside; cheapskate C-Class copy-paste interior is the deal breaker for me
- F-Pace, not if my life depended on it

The X3 has subjectively good looks on the outside, it's got a reliable, proven and appropriate ZF8HP transmission and the interior is exactly how I would want it to be. Easy choice then.

What about the Alfa?

The front reminds me very much of this:

Which is not a bad thing. Finally this car doesn't have any essential drawbacks and it can take the leading role in the BMW portfolio

The Macan,Stelvio I would say are more X4 rivals than the X3. The E-Pace, from what I have seen looks like an Italian knock off in this case the Stelvio. In the same way you can visit some countries and buy knock off italian clothing.
Although I admit the Range Rover Velar has caught the industry by surprise with its conceptual exterior and interior. It's absolutely stunning but is it too expensive for this segment?

Class leading interior. And indeed far better than the copy and paste GLC interior.
It would be funny if they had to copy paste this interior into the new 3 series next year. It does look great much better than the previous car rather unimpressive and boring interior.

It's exactly what you'd expect, a more refined X3. But it's better looking inside, for sure, and outside, sportier.

It looks very expensive in this video. Takes the fight back up to Audi. That said; I am still not entirely convinced about the styling direction. BMW is sort of stuck in this rut. It cannot let go of its past styling cues. Mercedes and Audi don't have that problem; why does the tail light have to be L shaped? The shapes are so awkward. Why does there have to be a pronounced Hoffmeister kink on every design? Why does there have to be flame surfacing? It was different in 2003.. time to try something a little more elegant....

I think the key importance of the style of the X3 is to keep it familiar for those that appreciated the very first X3 blend of solidity and robustness. The E83 was definitely more utility than the X5 given its sharper profile and its ability to step away from the X5 which the E53 was more of a higher Touring than a conventional SUV.
In 2003 the X3 pretty much had the run of the segment. There was no direct competition so we can say X3 was a pioneer in this instance. However the field widened and in some cases X3 fell behind but still claimed its traditional BMW plaudits for the segment.
But over the two generations of X3 it is nice to keep its original character such as the Sharper lines and profile. Solid details, T-shaped rear lights and of course the kicked up hofmeister which going forwards will be a staple of all new X models. The interior had to change though which is good they have the revolution inside as things progress further. On the outside how can the X3 be any different from what it is recognised for?
