Range Rover [Official] Gen 5 Range Rover

The Land Rover Range Rover, generally shortened to Range Rover, is a 4x4 luxury SUV produced by Land Rover, a marque and sub-brand of Jaguar Land Rover. The Range Rover line has been in production since it was launched in 1970 by British Leyland. Additional models have been launched under the Range Rover name, including the Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Evoque, and Range Rover Velar.
Seems the current phase in automotive design is minimalism. See Range Rover,SL and upcoming 7er. Untouched surfaces, Natural broadness and not forced or enhanced by dramatic character lines.

minimalism = fancy marketing word for cost reduction

Seeing the Range Rover is finally joining the 7 seat club. A long awaited but very lucrative addition.
I know people who have disregarded the Range Rover for something else with Seven Seats.

Yeah that is why I'm not going to comment on it yet. So many leaks have made cars looks terrible and then when the official pics come out and/or you see it in person or in live video it looks much better.

JLR are maintaining a uniform and instantly recognisable appearance across all Range Rovers. The Defender is expressive revolutionist in the product line up.

For both the defender and range rover line up, Urban, Overfinch and Kahn to a fantastic job at OEM+ cosmetic upgrades for those who want more visual punch.

I saw it in person back in the summer. It's actually gorgeous in the flesh and the interior, though derivative, looks modern and premium. For some reason it looks cheap in the leaked pics.

That's good to hear. It was the interior that had me most concerned.

You mean Gorden Wagener's sensual purity? Joking, albeit only halfway :P

Perhaps not the best thread for me to reply in, but the upcoming 7er visage seems more maximalist then minimalist, the rest of the 7er may very well be more minimalistic.

Do you like it better in the back with the lights on? :sneaky:

I don't get the criticism towards the interior. This is a mass produce vehicle. The interiors of the X7, GLS, Q8 and B-Class aren't exactly knockouts.

I need to see it in person and see more pics to truly pass judgment. At this exact moment, my criticism is that it doesn't look any better than the current gen. For a vehicle that starts at $92,000 in the U.S. I would expect better. The X7, GLS, and Q8 especially start at a lower price point.

I'm optimistic.

Is it still a 2-row only setup or are they going offer a 3rd row? I ask because the white on looks longer, so I am thinking the extended wheelbase might accommodate a 3rd row this time around.
