F-Type [Official] Jaguar F-Type

The Jaguar F-Type (X152) is a series of two-door, two-seater sports cars manufactured by British car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover under their Jaguar Cars marque from 2013 to 2024. The car's JLR D6a platform is based on a shortened version of the XK's platform. It is the so-called "spiritual successor" to the E-Type.
Jaguar unveils one-off F-Type R Coupe support vehicle for Tour de France

Created by JLR's Special Vehicle Operations
JLR's Special Vehicle Operations has unveiled a one-off F-Type R Coupe developed as a support vehicle for Tour de France.

Created to support Team Sky, the special F-Type R Coupe will be seen during stage 20 of the 2014 Tour de France when the riders will cover 34 miles (54 km) in a time trail event from Bergerac to Périgueux this Saturday. It has been fitted with a bespoke racking solution carrying two of the team's Pinarello Bolide TT bikes and also comes with Team Sky's livery while other graphic design features specific to the team have been implemented throughout the cabin.

Replacing the XF Sportbake support vehicle only for this stage, the special F-Type boasts a separate electric supply in the trunk offering power to the amplifiers, radios, microphones as well as horns and televisions supporting communications between the team’s sports director and the rider.

There aren't any changes in the engine area so the one-off F-Type R Coupe comes with a supercharged V8 5.0-liter engine outputting 550 PS (404 kW) and 501 lb-ft (680 Nm) of torque.

Now that these cars have started to roam the streets, I can only say that they are stunning! The coupe is really special and the street precence is like a modern E-type! Good god, I'd love me one of those in three years for 35 % of the original price.

^I will be interesting to see how residuals will be in the UK where secondhand value is usually strong for Jaguar. Funny I notice residuals on the Boxster isn't as good as it way a couple of years ago.

Swapping a rear windshield for a recessed bicycle mount is a brilliantly practical and low cost way of customising Jaguar F-Type. I'm eager to see what other body work modification will come out of the SVO.

Jaguar F-Type Coupe Ad Banned in the UK

Earlier this year, Jaguar released its first-ever Super Bowl commercial showing us the evil side of Britain and why it’s “good to be bad,” but the UK’s Advertising Standards Agency thinks that Jaguar may have gotten a little too bad in its most recent video. Titled “The Art of Villainy” starring Tom Hiddleston, the ASA has banned this particular spot for “encouraging irresponsible driving.”
Like previous advertisements in this current campaign, which total six so far, Hiddleston spends the first part of the two-and-half-minute video describing what makes a great villain, which of course relates to the F-Type Coupe. Toward the end of the video is where the ASA really takes issue with the commercial.

Inside the parking garage, the F-Type Coupe appears to speed away from another car, but The Hollywood Reporter says that Jaguar insists the car “barely moved” during these scenes. According to the ASA, this scene “appeared to suggest significant speed within an enclosed environment.” This despite the fact that the scene has the standard “Professional driver. Closed course. Always obey speed limits.” caution easily visible along the bottom of the screen

The watchdog agency is even more displeased about the scenes shot on the public streets it felt suggested a significant increase of speed as Hiddleston accelerates away from a parking garage in a manner that looks like he is driving fast and says “now brace yourselves” while doing so. Jaguar says that the speed limit was never exceeded and police escorts were present while filming.

For this latter portion of the video, the ASA said: “We considered that the second part of the ad suggested that the car was being driven at excessive speeds and that the ad therefore encouraged irresponsible driving. The ad must not appear again in its current form.”

Even though Brits won't be able to watch the full commercial on TV, we can all see the spot in its entirety on YouTube.

2015 Jaguar F-Type AWD spied on a trailer
Could debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show
An all-wheel drive Jaguar F-Type coupe has been spied being hauled on a trailer.

Looking instantly recognizable, the "Plant Launch Vehicle" has a camouflaged front end which is expected to hide a slightly revised hood to accommodate the additional running gear. The rear badging is also covered and is believed to hide an AWD badge on the right side.

Jaguar has remained relatively quiet about the all-wheel drive system but it should be offered on F-Types equipped with six- and eight-cylinder engines.

The all-wheel drive F-Type is expected to debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, so expect to learn more in November.

Jaguar F-Type gets all-wheel drive in time for Los Angeles debut

Debuts November 19
Jaguar has announced the implementation of an all-wheel drive system for the F-Type range.

There were rumors about an AWD F-Type and now Jaguar has made the news official and they say the F-Type R Coupe can sprint to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.9 seconds which makes it 0.1s quicker than its rear-wheel drive sibling while the top speed has remained the same at an electronically-capped 186 mph (300 km/h).

Coinciding with the all-wheel drive F-Type launch is Jaguar's announcement to collaborate with the British World Land Speed Record Team. The technological partnership between Jaguar and The Bloodhound Project aims to establish a land speed record of more than 1,000 mph (1,609 km/h) in 2016 to take down the current record of 763,035 mph (1,227 km/h) established back in 1997 by Andy Green in a Thrust SSC who will also get to drive the Bloodhound Supersonic car.

Getting back to the AWD F-Type, the range will be introduced on November 19 at the Los Angeles Auto Show and Jaguar says next year the model family will be expanded from 6 to 14 members and among these will probably be versions equipped with a manual gearbox as well as a four-cylinder Ingenium engine.

That is quite an interesting way to lubricate your gears. Does anyone know if there's any other similar manual gearbox on the market?
