For those, who are interested in the w223/v223 car as such and not in detective work:

Comparing the W223 front grill, specially the area of the black coverplate for the distronic sensor, with the front grill of my W220 MOPF, this shows a loss of design quality.

Specially the zone, were the vertical chrome line comes together and makes a kind of jump. W220 looks much more harmonic and with more love to the detail designed.

So I tried to understand, if the other available front grill designs for W223 do have a better appearance. (Ate least to my eyes the standard grill does not match my expectations)

In my area are currently no AMG or Maybach cars on display, so difficult to compare the level of quality in detail on a real car.

from the pictures , there are no interrupted lines with a small jump in the area of the sensor cover.

In the next days I will check original AMG and Maybach grills to compare with the standard grill and than I will decide, if the front grill might become an area of improvement / customization.

I am aware, that this exercise is not easy to do, as the full bumper needs to get de assembled to exchange the grill. Also camera and sensor needs to get trained again.

But I am sure, that an official Mercedes Body shop can do this operation in a fair time.

Apparently a lot of road noise and harsh ride. Was this the case with the prior model too (being a lot harsher and louder than the base v8)?

This is probably the first time I've heard about tire noise and harsh ride. Both were perhaps the set tires themselves.
I actually saw one at the dealership. It is handsome IRL. This one is a wapping $230,000.

All Australian W223's are running run flats. The ride is superior in all aspects compared to the W222 IMO in both 20inch and 21inch guises. The ride and NVH are astounding. I would imagine with non run flats it would be utterly sublime.

I did note on our airmatic C-class there was a vast difference in ride quality depending on whether the vehicle was fitted with Continentals or Bridgestone tyres. The Bridgestones were far superior.

Both our W222 and W223 came fitted with Bridgestone Potenza runflats with the sound deadening foam inside.

I can not comment on a W222 or W223 S63 as I have driven neither, but this is the first time I have ever heard/read of ride quality issues.

I changed to 20inch MayBach rims and the described Bridgestone Potenza MO tires.

I was expecting a more compromised ride, due to less rubber between alloy wheel and road , but to my surprise the comfort of the ride quality has increased, the car runs even quieter, which is recognized specially on low inner city speed .

Absolutely stunning! If you're willing to take a resale risk, the s class is available with some beautiful combinations.

Here in Australia we get a choice of red, black or beige.

In fact you can't even order an S class at the moment.

What’s going on with MB Australia? Are sales that low for the region in recent years, or have they purposely constricting the market?

I thought we had bad here with the MBUSA clairvoyances… it took 4 model years in the USA to get some key features as regular options on the non-AMG/Maybach S (Executive rear seating + AMG pack together, full availability of Manufaktur exterior/interior combinations, Digital Lighting, and optional 4-zone climate control, gesture control, etc.). First model year they were shipping cars here with no Multi-contour seats and full ambient lighting due to ‘chip shortages’ even though people ordered with options at the time, while all other regions didn’t have the constraint. Even the 3D HUD used to be a rare sight. Compared to Australia, I see we don’t have it as bad.
