I am not saying Porsche shouldn't be trying to beat the Plaid, just that beating it by 1s or whatever, but then having half the range as a result of bad drag coefficient is not gonna impress anyone. They should be trying to make the car faster through chassis/suspension/weight improvements alone to preserve range. But this is precisely the reputation that Porsche of all companies needs to fight harder to retain. If the nerds in Silicon Valley can outdo Porsche in their backyard by tinkering with batteries and lines of code without a trace of any racing heritage or pedigree, then what is the value proposition of the Porsche brand in the future when everything is inevitably Electric?

"When Porsche launched the Taycan in 2019, few people imagined the rivalry between the Zuffenhausen electric racer and the sportier version of the Tesla Model S, named Plaid. Until then, nobody thought of Tesla as a sportscar maker, despite the Tesla roadster being at the company’s foundation. But Porsche entering the EV fray changed everything, and soon Tesla was caught testing the Model S Plaid on the Nürburgring.
The next couple of years brought a heated rivalry between the two companies on the famous racetrack in Germany. Porsche snatched the title for the fastest production electric vehicle on the Ring in 2019 when the Taycan Turbo lapped the 20.8-km northern loop in 7 minutes and 42 seconds. Then Tesla scored a victory in 2021 with the Model S Plaid, with 7 minutes and 36 seconds, before Porsche outdid it with the Taycan Turbo S, which set the 7:33.3 record that still stands today."
Etc.

I still don't believe anyone would be stupid enough to call Tesla a sportscar manufacturer.
Why do you think it is lighter and more efficient than the Tesla one?
Totally wrongI think they weight the same but Lucid is S Class size inside and goes 200 miles more... and their drive train is the most advanced.

Watch from minute 42 where they do a direct comparison between Plaid and Taycan motor.
Anybody can claim anything. But the truth is that 'forwardism' equals R&D investments. There are no miracles. Tesla is 10 years ahead of its closest follower, concerning EV technology - electric motors, inverters, battery cells, management of all this, including production cost and time needed for production. Some may achieve a brakethrough in a single area but never in the whole product. What's "totally wrong?".

I'm collecting my new Taycan in ten days, lads. I can't wait. I saw it for the first time last week when it had just arrived off the car transporter at the dealer.
That's too many sleepless nights, haha.
I'm planning to buy a used one but its hard to decide. Mind says 4S is good enough but heart wants Turbo.

Around town both drive pretty much the same but for "only" 20k more I can have something special and never look back.
What do you guys think?
