Taycan [Official] Porsche Taycan

The Porsche Taycan is a battery electric luxury sports sedan and shooting brake car produced by Porsche.
Interesting article:

"2023 Porsche Taycan Turbo S Hits 150 MPH a Full Second Quicker

What’s going on? It’s down to a very turbo-sounding word: boost. Or, more specifically, overboost. (...) When the Taycan Turbo S was first rolled out, the conservative answer was three seconds. In later iterations, overboost was allowed to persist for a full 10 seconds. Porsche made this change after understanding in-use customer behavior of their first EV in more detail and also after the ongoing testing that Porsche has always done to constantly improve their products. The effect of 10 seconds of overboost versus three seconds is exactly what our two test results have quantified."

The Lucid Air Sapphire smashed it by around four seconds. Just saying.

Of course, but the article makes it clear that this improved performance can be traced back to a software update in 2021:

"The second update in March 2021 was more meaningful as far as raw performance goes. (...) the three- to 10-second boost in overboost was rolled during the same update with little fanfare"

So, it does not beat the more recent offerings from other manufacturers per se but is still noteworthy (& empirically measurable). It remains to be seen what the impending "refresh" will offer...;)

He's always getting a new car. I'm f#cking sick of it! Review a bloody Peugeot 205 GTI instead or stuff!🤣
He likely got the car on a cheap business lease. Because it’s an EV, there are tax benefits to buying this car including grants/tax breaks for installing a charger at the HQ,

Germany in shambles.
I personally think it's extreme how much quicker and simply better these U.S EVs are.

Taycan is absolutely dead in this EV loving country too. They are hardly around at all. Some when the car was new and fresh, but it looks like everyone went back to a 911.
Curious. Are you saying that the EV loving folks in the Netherlands have gone back to the ICE 911? Or are you saying that the Lucid Airs are flying off the shelves in the Netherlands and Tesla Model S Plaid can be found at every corner because of their drag race performance (0 to 150 mph being most important) is the qualifying criteria for the majority of EV buyers in the Netherlands in that segment?

Of course purely anecdotal, but I haven't seen a single Lucid yet and the Model S was done a long time ago. It's mostly Model Y type stuff.

I don't think there actually are many EV loving folks if it weren't for the discounts. And in the private market, noone wants an EV either for obvious reasons.

Remarkable...:)

"Porsche has a new ultra high-performance Taycan on the way, and it just set a record around the Nurburgring. Giddy with excitement, the Stuttgart automaker hasn't even confirmed what the car is called or detailed any of its performance metrics. It has just told us the time. A 'pre-series Taycan' lapped the ring in just 7:07.55. This makes it the fastest electric Porsche to ever turn a wheel in anger around the legendary track."

What’s even more remarkable is it’s only 2 and a bit seconds slower than the Rimac Nevera.

It buries the Tesla plaid by being 17.6 sec faster

Taycan sales have increased each year in the Netherlands since its introduction.

2020 - 436
2021 - 631
2022 - 720
2023 - 764 (projected)

911 sales

2020 - 397
2021 - 407
2022 - 433
2023 - 613 (projected)

And in the private market, noone wants an EV either for obvious reasons.

My work car park is full of EVs, every single one of which is privately owned. I am one myself.

A Russian website from China...... why do I doubt these numbers and why aren't they the same as, let's say, Autoweek.NL?

But you're right by pointing out my wild claim; Tacan still sold 10 times more than a BMW 7er. If Tacan is dead, a 7er is like a fossil.

Before the RAI stopped public access to their registration data the Taycan numbers were available, I posted this back in 2022...

The numbers here tally with those from the Chinese/Russian site. Make of that what you will.

That's an interesting website, Porsche has smashed it for 6 in Norway with the Taycan, 5060 of them since January 2019. 2023 wasn't the best year, but then Norwegians have been tightening there belts, it's been a shitty year.

I did think twice whether to post the data, what with the source being potentially dubious, but it was the only set I found in the relatively short time I looked. Matski's figures do seem to suggest they're accurate, however.

If Taycan tech would have been improved since release the sales would've be higher. Is still the best EV to drive and much better than 992 as a daily, fast, responsive and even practical.
Not so good on efficiency and range because its heavy and the battery is too small.
I think the strategy to wait for the facelift to make improvements doesn't work for EV's.

It is hauling ass.
Absolutely insane. Only 2 seconds off a Rimac Nevera. Everytime i think we’re approaching the limits of what these cars can do, every record gets shattered by a comprehensive margin. Kudos to Porsche for regaining the title so comprehensively.
