5 Series [Official] The New BMW 5 Series (G60)

The BMW 5 Series is an executive car manufactured and marketed by BMW since 1972. The car is sold as either a sedan or, since 1991, a station wagon (marketed as "Touring"). A 5-door fastback (marketed as "Gran Turismo") was sold between 2009 and 2017. Each successive generation has been given an internal G-code designation since 2017. Previously, a F-code designation was used between 2010 and 2016, while an E-code designation was used between 1972 and 2010. These are used to distinguish each model and generation from each other.

But that silver colour vertical trim piece on the back bumper just looks off and reminds me of some saber tooth tiger got his fangs caught in the back bumper.
The real meaning is perceived in real life, which is what is important, more than on the show room floor, they modernize and/or drastically change what has been used and seen for years, these are the details that I appreciate about pioneering and that end up being adopted by many brands as a general rule to face the years to come, the function that I see the most is to frame the lower rear part, widen it with "bling appliqués" in a different tone than the body, a new way to put the cat eyes horizontally instead of directly on the bumper, it makes it more interesting and new IMO so to speak , but the saber tooth tiger commentary is funny

Indeed, I am sick and tired of all these interior ruining cheap screens @empower77
The time they were cool is long gone. They are required now FFS

And regarding this 5er........like I said many times before, BMW should have made an EV sedan based off the iX and be done with it. The 5er is clearly ruined by wanting to be all at the same time. MB made a better choice (on paper at least, because in real life they completely botched it with their hideous EQ disaster).
That’s maybe one of the reasons why the future X3 and 3er are going to be separated into two distinct platforms. Yeah, sometimes I think the recent 5er and 7er can be prevented from being botched by having their full electric siblings: i5 and i7 that are base on the current iX rather than using CLAR repeatedly. If BMW went ahead with this route, the G60 and G70 could easily be the solid and stunning continuations of the outgoing G30 and G11 with several traditional elements and proportions.

Yeah maybe all those haters hava gone to my head....
I have yet to see one and I'll judge myself.
Honestly and this is me being serious, I know how much your side of the world is pushing for EVs and the general population has embraced that tech.. if I was you I would totally get one. They are genuinely good looking IMO. That said I do have quite an eclectic taste and love quirky things ….

some of my fav design features

the front (the grill is proportionately sized to the rest of the car)… although not a fan of the light signatures on the headlights (same with X5/6/1)
the wing mirrors
the tail (esp the lights)
the chunky wheels and tires
the shark fin.. it’s substantially bulky and rounded… gives an aura of understated confidence.
The interior esp the steering wheel with the red center marker on the M60. FINALLY BMW has a gorgeous wheel
The light bar. Just exudes class without going OTT like the hyper/ super screen in the EQS/EQE/E

G11 with several traditional elements and proportions.
The G70 has all the traditional elements, double headlights, the purest and hardest kink and proportions worthy of envy.
The "traditional" proportions of the G11 made it the first 7 series to drastically reduce its sales compared to its predecessor, it was not well done, it only fulfilled its role and nothing more, this is not the case with the new 5 and 7 and that is why I applaud standing
That’s maybe one of the reasons why the future X3 and 3er are going to be separated into two distinct platforms.
I think it's simply that the right time has come to do it.

I get the impression that in all aspects, this is without a doubt the most luxurious 5 series in history. For me, it's just a shame that these cars have now become so big and (inevitably) heavier.

I believe one aspect of the exterior design BMW (Audi does this as well) has nailed is the transition to a rear bumper where no exhausts are needed in order to look great. This actually started with the i4, which has a better looking rear bumper than the 4er.

I also think that the underbody will be the color of the body to differentiate it a little from the normal one, as has always been done by putting skirts on sporty versions.
(looks sensational from behind)

there are also quite a few errors in the render as well, small errors but these will make the car much different once revealed. Just like that website was off with their 5 series renders, they are also off here.

Of course, key errors, the rear does seem to be in line

BMW i5 review: it makes the Tesla Model S feel like a shopping trolley. The BMW i5 is as rewarding to drive as any other mainstream EV before it. And the M60? *Chef’s kiss*

WHAT'S THE VERDICT?

“This is the best-handling car in its class and makes a Model S feel like a shopping trolley”

The BMW i5 is an exceptional new car. We’ll have to wait to try the combustion versions of the new 5 Series, but if BMW’s stated aim here was to combine 3 Series dynamism with 7 Series luxury, it’s mission accomplished: this is the best-handling car in its class and makes a Model S feel like a shopping trolley. Especially the M60. Yes it’s expensive, but it feels every penny of the billion-pound investment it surely was for its maker.

As for the tech, this isn’t a car so much as an entire ecosystem. And while some of the new stuff comes across as a bit tryhard, the i5 just about avoids being too clever for its own good. Unlike the EQE.

The beating that the i5/5 series is going to give to the EQE/E-Class is not written, the EQE for being ugly and not as good as it should be and the E for being boring
BMW is not only at the forefront of design but ALL of its cars are better than the rest.
