A3/S3/RS3 Officially official: 2013 Audi A3

The Audi A3 is a small family car (C-segment) manufactured and marketed by Audi AG since September 1996. The first two generations of the Audi A3 were based on the Volkswagen Group A platform, while the third and fourth generations use the Volkswagen Group MQB platform.
Those seats just knock spots off the competition. This is why Audi are regarded the kings of interior quality and design..... man does to show.

They also showed a blue one today :)

My favourite exterior colour so far! It should be brilliant with the two tone brown-black dash.

Those cobra seats must be expensive exclusive range options. Their similar to Audi RS seats. Great idea though. I like how Audi designers think. Remember the baseball glove seats. Now the Cobra seats.

The hatch is not my cup of tea but I feel like the sedan will be great...
Great quality interior and it looks really good in blue :)

My friend has her TTS with the baseball stiching seats I always thought they were cool.

A facelift...? Seriously..where are your glasses man...

If you must know my eye sight is quite good, hence i do not require any spectacles. The reason for my comment is because in no way do I consider slapping on A1 headlights and A6 rear lights on an existing A3 body a new car. Cheap tactics by Audi. But hey, who am I to crit their business practices. You don't have to like my comments, I just think it's a really lame looking car. Was expecting much better from Audi. Now the new A class is something to write home about, very nice looking car.

I must however give credit where it's due and that's the interior. It looks really top notch, best in class by far. That's for fit and finish, I still think that 1 series has the best looking.

A nice looking and doubtlessly beautifully made car, but compared to the new MB A class...well, more than a bit pedestrian in the styling department...

I can understand your 'facelift' argument but the A3 is evolutionary not revolutionary. Although under the skin it is all new. I had a view a bit like yourself at first but after some time to really look at the cars design in detail I love it. Only thing I wish it had was pilarless doors like A1and completely matching body colour wing mirriors. I'm guessing Audi are saving this for the cabriolet version and possibly we will get a four door pilarless sedan to make it stand out more.

For the segment the car competes in it has it all. Lets just see how well it drives and handles. I expect an improvement with marginal increase in wheel base and overall llighter construction. Good enough for me.

Does anyone know if the Haldex Quattro has been improved??

Like twins, huh? *ironic*

Comparing old with new:

It's not until viewed sid by side do you realise just how different the new model is and how much it's looks have improved.

Ok, I maybe a bit overwhelmed by the new A3's interior but what a HUGE improvement of the previous generation and in S-line trim it's gob-smacking.

U.S. not getting new A3 Wagon, separate sedan being developed

Well, this sorta sucks:

[h=1]While we adore sexy three-door hatchbacks in the same way that our lungs crave oxygen, our fellow countrymen don't quite seem to feel the same way. Three-doors simply don't sell in America, and that's exactly why the delicious 2013 Audi A3 Wagon isn't headed to the states, according to The Detroit Bureau.

Instead, American buyers can look forward to a market-specific sedan version that Johan de Nysschen, CEO of Audi of America, says won't share so much as a single body panel with the longroof you see above. While that's a crying shame by our eyes, de Nysschen says the U.S.-spec 2013 Audi A3 will likely be successful enough to boost model sales to 30,000 per year.

The A3 Sedan is expected to bow with a more upscale, refined interior and more passenger volume as well. We wouldn't be surprised to see an abundance of available technology options as well. The Detroit Bureausays the new model may even bow with the same touch pad control system found on the Audi A8 and a larger LCD screen mounted in the dash.[/h]

The A1 has made the A3 raise it's specification. The A3 sedan will hopefully do the same to the next generation A4 with this routine out-playing all the way up to the rumoured A9!

Nice comparison there. Once can clearly see that the A3 is not entry level but has a level of detail and design that is on the level with the A4. The lack of MMI in the A1 is a clear divider.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
