Random Thoughts...

he's a nutjob.

When you kill a beast for it's meat you doing it a great disservice if you don't use all its body parts. Not using the hide and throwing it away is wasteful. Making vegan leather from petroleum is far worse for the environment.
You’re 100% right.(y) And I agree with you 100%.(y)

I have exactly the same thoughts about that and him.

Who do you expect to break the spiral? Those that are intolerant, or those that are intolerant of the intolerant?

Why I said we're not getting out.

We are in a race to the bottom. Bottom being all out civil war in the U.S, and a total collapse of the system in the EU

I agree.

I am seriously annoyed from the EU. You’ve democracy in the countries, but all the decisions can be blocked from the EU commission who hasn’t been elected by the people.

Forbidding the ICE has been seriously madness, first they forbid the bulbs, then the plastic dishes, drinking straw ( in Switzerland it’s thankfully still allowed), the power of the vacuum cleaners has been limited as well,I am curious what else are they going to forbid.

That’s why people are voting for radical parties to blow this up.

They’re fed up, that’s why the crazy brexit happened.

I am Swiss, and I really love Europe, but we need more freedom, especially of these unelected eurocrats.

The EU must be reformed otherwise it’ll implode.

Slap me stupid but I think the US splitting into multiple countries would be the best thing to happen to the country since the end of WW2. I split it into something like this map, Alaska could go it alone or join Canada and I'd give the Hawaiians back the sovereignty which was stolen from them.

Swissbob don't forget the bananas!

This is not a particularly accurate generalisation. EU law takes precedent over national law, but the Commission still has to get it's laws through the European Parliament, which is democratically elected by the people. The ICE ban was voted for by people EU citizens voted for.

In part, but the EU was used as a scapegoat for issues that successive generations of our own government were responsible for. Eurosceptics told the fed up people that it was all the EU's fault and they voted accordingly. You only have to look at how much things haven't improved for us since we left, to understand how few of the problems that people were fed up about, were actually because of the EU. If any European nations are looking at the raging failure that Brexit has been and thinking to themselves "I want that", then they probably deserve to fail.

Thank you for the correction (y)

That’s why on the last election, the euro skeptics increased their share, and they’re hopefully going to abolish this stupid law.

The result of the brexit is also, that it’s almost impossible to move to Switzerland If you’re a UK citizen.

You're not even in the EU, and any implosing will have nothing to do with cars.
We’re not, I think for a small country like Switzerland, having special contracts is probably the better solution.

It’s also a big question If the direct democracy of Switzerland is compatible with the EU law.

If the EU implodes, the Car industry will suffer too.

... any implosing will have nothing to do with cars.

Very little to do with cars in any case.

It will be, if anything, emergency support transfer provisions in favor of fiscally distressed EU member states that could be highly controversial. So much so that it could bring the house down. Theoretically, at least.

Current case in point: Watch France carefully.

Special contracts is a nice way of putting it. Having to cope with EU policy full stop without a say of your own would suck for me personally.

But then again, Switserland probably is the best country on the planet to live, so some things must be going well.

It's being debated today between the manufacturers and the commission, so we'll see.

The last time it was voted on, as far as I can tell, it had broad support from most parties other than ID, who became 'Patriots for Europe', who are right wing nationalist Eurosceptics... but they only have 85 MEPs out of 700+. If they're going to change direction on it, the major factions of the parliament will need to have had a change of heart.

On the other Hand it’s may be the cheaper solution.

We still have an exzellent GDP/ dept ratio, very low taxes, 8.1% VAT.

I don’t know If Switzerland could live like Luxembourg, because this is probably the most similar country in Europe.

Regarding the best country on the world, I would say in the countryside yes, in the cities not anymore.

Because of safety concerns, there are quarters where you shouldn’t walk alone at night.

I live rural, and I can say that it’s surprisingly quiet.

The EU could certainly do with reform. However, you can only do that if you're still in it.

The UK and Switzerland are slaves to EU regulations and have no say whatsoever, all while having to fully comply with every single detail.
Terrible proposition frankly.

You can't tell someone to change the kitchen, if you've left the house and turned in your keys.

Not even left the house, but given it away to radical minorities.
Shameful.

Only for those things that we want to trade with the EU. I can now go down to my local grocery store and buy meat based products that aren't fit for sale in the EU because there has been some regulatory divergence.

This of course isn't a material benefit in any way... but it's not correct to say we have to comply with every single detail, and for those things that we do - we'd have been doing it anyway (for example CE marking).... except now we'd be UKCA marking it as well ... more money for regulators... wonderful, more costs... great.

Of course, but it just so happens the place we can get produces from cheapest and quickest is the EU.

People really thought Brexit would allow is to jetison ourselves from the north east Atlantic to near the US or Australia. Crazy.
