Combined with the EQ technology a V8 will be able to outperform any antiquated V12. Developing a new one would be costly considering the limited applications.

I actually expected the AMG 4DGT to debut with a hybrid V8. It will make an excellent V8 replacement, the same way that hybrid 6 cylinders will replace V8s in the immediate future.

The V12 has still alot of potential for the Maybach and S65 models as it produces 730HP in Pagani models so as the 4.0 V8 is already encroaching on the power of the current V12 (612PS compared to 630HP), I personally feel AMG will do some mods and increase the power to surpass the V8 sufficiently (to at least 700PS or more) and also exceed those of rival Bentley and BMW models.

^^ i do agree both of you guys @Rolf & @hovabongZA opinion, but to go further strongly Merc need to develop a new V12 witi 4V per cylinder, lighter in weight & better output which hav space to explore more.

What do you mean all over again?
Considering that the GLE and GLS share a platform, the exteriors remain very distinct. The only shared sheet metal are the front doors. Everything else is unique.

I was in a discussion about this in another thread (and I agree), but people like @Busty seem to see this differently. All in the eye I suppose.

I hope the interior of the GLS will be a major change and not be the same as the GLE. It needs to step up it's game to be able to compete against the RR and upcoming X7

In advance of the Auto China 2018 in Beijing, Mercedes-Maybach is showing the first impressions of the concept car today, which will be shown at the important auto show in China. Under "Luxury at its finest", the Stuttgart automaker revealed still very little of the vehicle, which will probably be build on a SUV platform.

If you look at the few glimpses of the upcoming Vision Mercedes-Maybach, not only a lot of leather and gold-colored elements are noticeable, but in detail also some typical SUV elements. In the center console e.g. the downhill assistant or a switch is recognizable, which so far is used e.g. in the Mercedes-Benz GLS.
